Appreciated your work❤
Ответить1.9 gb fresh boot ? absolute lie , debian uses 500 mb on fresh boot
ОтветитьI think the reason of huge upload speed difference was firewall settings on ubuntu, if it was selected as low then could be roughly same
Ответить240 makes no sense? terrible video
ОтветитьMe: This comparison is so informational, both OS seem quite decent. This is useful for when I pick my OS in the future.
Also me: Dual booting.
I would love to see a "trimmed" test as well where you do your general first install optimizations for both windows and linux and add those to the comparison as well, just to see what the peak of what the average user can get on both windows and linux
ОтветитьNext up: Arch vs Debloated Windows 10!!!!!!
ОтветитьHow about modern Linux distros vs Windows XP on the same hardware
Ответитьfor me, geometry dash gives me 30 extra fps on linux than on windows
ОтветитьUsing less RAM isn't an asset, the more ram used the better, free ram is wasted ram, what you actually want to do is see which swaps ram more efficiently by loading a ram intensive programs simultaneously and benchmarking those when system is under ram pressure.
IF fan is ramping more on windows, why are you surprised it's using more battery?
I wonder what spoofing the user-agent would do to the speed tests, I know Google ships a different experience to those using Chrome vs other browsers, maybe it's the service limiting the Linux upload speeds. It shouldn't and that'd be very suspicious if it were true, hopefully there's no difference.
ОтветитьWould have been good seeing rendering in blender, since that's one of the reasons I've been interested in linux lately
ОтветитьThe true test is to use them both for 2 weeks then repeat the test. Windows is deceptive because it only runs good for the first day then it just gets worse and worse everyday.
ОтветитьI was surprised to see that in Linux I could steplessly adjust screen brightness from bright to completely dark. In windows theres only few levels of brightness and lowest is still pretty bright. Makes me wonder if darker levels in linux actually save more power or is it "fake".
ОтветитьThe best OS is the one that you can use the best.
Security-wise, generally Linux is better, but an idiot can easily get hacked using Linux. The best antivirus I know of is...
Banger video
Ответитьis KDE a better desktop than M$-Windows ?
Ответитьtry on older hardware please ?, like maybe 10 years old laptop ?
ОтветитьThis upload speed is like slap in the face for Linux master race. I wanted to switch to Linux as a superior executor. Now I ask myself how it is possible you get such a bad result. It's too bad to be true.
ОтветитьCall me crazy but I just don’t want to pay Microsoft to spy on me
ОтветитьSo glad Linux gaming has gotten so good to the point where this comparison is inconclusive. Thank you a lot Valve, now I can comfortably ditch Windows
Ответитьi ended up switching to pop os from windows recently, but i would always save things to my 2tb hard drive ofc, so like the fact that it was almost full at like 250gb or something ridiculous. it literally gained like 225gb out of nowhere out of like 4 years of use. yea there was like minecraft & a few miscellaneous objects on it too but all my files were saved to my other hard drive so like- thank you linux for freeing my captive drive lmao
ОтветитьYea this isn't a good comparison.
ОтветитьI would love to know what clock speeds the computer ran at during both Linux and Windows testing. Nvidia GPUs, like most modern processors, adjust their clock speeds quite a bit depending on the temperature they are running at. The 6 degree difference pretty much completely invalidates the performance comparisons. Can you please retest while manually controlling the fan speeds so that the computer maintains the same temperatures on both systems?
ОтветитьHorizon Zero Dawn does in fact have a benchmark utility built in. It is located at the bottom of the graphics screen tab.
ОтветитьConclusion is ... dual boot
ОтветитьUbuntu is my least favorite Linux distro but loved to see this test. Linux has slowly caught up to windows over the years. I hope eventually it will be a clear winner. Maybe a “gaming” distro would help a bit more idk. If you make an update to this maybe compare terminal to powershell some how too.
ОтветитьSEQ read is nothing the important is RANDOM READS, btw
Ответитьyou would want to see all the RAM been used , the ram is there to be used not the opposite .
ОтветитьWait. So PC games running on Linux with Proton in Horizon was only 10/15FPS less? Honestly could drop a setting and make up that difference. Thats impressive.
Ответитьmy GOD! you miss the point! is HDD overheating in WIN! Software Type and Funding:
Windows is a commercial, profit-driven product developed by professional programmers.
Linux is generally developed by hobbyists and available for free.
System Resource Usage:
Windows frequently utilizes the hard disk drive (HDD) through processes like the indexing service, which can stress the SSD and NVMe drives by causing overheating.
Linux typically runs cooler on the same hardware, evidenced by lower temperatures of SSD and NVMe drives when using Linux.
Impact on Hardware:
The intensive resource use by Windows may lead to faster wear and tear on components, particularly drives, necessitating more frequent replacements and upgrades.
Linux aims to maximize efficiency with minimal hardware, preserving older systems and reducing the need for frequent upgrades.
Philosophical and Market Approach:
Linux was created to operate effectively on older, less capable hardware, allowing users with budget constraints to avoid costly upgrades.
This approach has helped Linux to carve out a niche in the market by supporting older computers and offering a sustainable alternative to Windows.
i would like to see you revisit this once the nvidia driver that is currently in beta that provides better wayland support comes to main steam and maybe try Wayland vs X11 to see the difference and add windows in thee too.
ОтветитьI think testing windows with vanilla Arch or Debian would've been better though 😅

Don't thank me, thank the Artificial Intelligence
At this point anyone who uses Linux does so to be different and you can’t change my mind
ОтветитьLately Windows has been giving me really bad internet upload speeds of 20Mbps (through both WiFi & Ethernet).
Linux (more specifically, CachyOS) gives me over 340Mbps on the same PC with Connections set to Single.
Paying more than 800€ for a 14-inch laptop with a mobile processor, integrated graphics, 8GB of RAM, and 500GB of storage, plus a mediocre 1080p LCD screen... it's basically like a mid-range Chromebook. Tuxedo won't sell much with those prices. For just 50€ more, I could get an ASUS TUF Gaming A15 FA506NCR-HN016W, with a 15.6" Full HD display, AMD Ryzen™ 7 7435HS, 16GB of RAM, 512GB SSD, GeForce RTX™ 3050, and Windows 11 Home... ridiculous
ОтветитьI perceive Ubuntu as half way from Linux towards Windows, but that's just me, using LMDE.
ОтветитьMaybe Linux takes a different approach for handling temperature: it throttles if a part instead of turning the fans up
ОтветитьI think it would be worth testing native games also with translation layers too. I think i saw higher performance in unigine heaven through dxvk than native opengl.
I think battery life really depends on hardware, on hardware with good linux support it does better, but with bad linux support windows does better.
The upload performance must be something else. I get my maximum provider speeds on both systems via cable (about 2 gbit up and down.)
ОтветитьPlease stop using Ubuntu for... Anything.
There is popos, arc, Fedora and many others with way better 'gaming support' but currently cachyOS takes the lead as top Linux gaming operaatio system.
windows 11 after installation takes little space. but that gets bigger with every update. eventually 80gb might not be enough for windows 11 alone. where after installing so many apps, its only using 45gb+-, and I'm impressed. i have been using It for a month. if I used windows then I might have 100gb gone by now.
ОтветитьWould love to see another recent test to see if theres been any improvements to proton! Future video idea lol
