ОтветитьMany struggled with use of in-camera correction, while they don't even understand how it works in modern digital cameras. The camera just uses extra pixels (noted on the product page if you've looked at it even once) and an optically shorter focal length, the techs doesn't harm anything in the final product, except making their conservative minds crazy. What's even unfortunate although most major manufacturers are using this tech, none of them explain it in detail.

ОтветитьThese are the best answers to the questions of enthusiasts. Thanks.
ОтветитьDon't discount the L series build quality when comparing the 3x price tag to the 35 1.8.
ОтветитьBasically, beginners without laptops or that dont have or use lens correction, SHOULDN'T get this lens 🤔
ОтветитьYou do realise that the uncorrected lens is wider than 35mm and the corrections make it a true 35mm?
I don’t see any issue with profile corrections for 99% of the time you use it is dis- proportionally talked about.
If shooting Red Komodo & KX, It is an s35 crop so you won't see the vignette, Raptor you will see it.
ОтветитьA LOT of vignetting
ОтветитьThe profile includes cropping after distortion correction. And the profile of this lens crops about 8-10% of the frame area. This is nonsense. This is not 10mm or 18, this is 35 - correcting such lenses has never been a big problem. Sigma, Sony GM - you can't say that these lenses are very large, heavy or expensive. 4% distortion has never happened before in this class. Canon literally invented this. And this is unacceptable. Because at least top primes should reveal the potential of the sensor.
There is no point in justifying this lens. Canon has skimped here. This needs to be said honestly.
I purchased the 35mm f1.4L lens to use for videography in low light environments. After assessing the quality of the lens, I’ve contacted the supplier to have it returned. The noise in the edges is atrocious. The digital correction is inconsistent and aggressively reduces the image quality.
Outside of that, the lens autofocus system would stop functioning and the camera would seize up.
I’m very disappointed in the quality of the lens. Hopefully the new 24mm and 50mm f1.4 VCM lenses are better quality. For now, I will have to work with the 50mm f1.2L.
Most informative review so far about this lens! In nature photography I am fine with the RF 35mm F1.8 lens - which is almost a macro lens. But in people photography, for example in low light in churches, I would need a faster 35mm with faster autofocus - so I will probably go for this RF 35/1.4 VCM, despite the horrible distortions it produces.
