ОтветитьI can control all the above except sleep. That one discourages me because I've tried literally everything to fix my sleep and haven't been able it to get a good night's sleep for years. Where do they get 8 hrs a night anyway?

ОтветитьExtreme stress has been my health's undoing over the last 18 months. Thankfully, I have a good handle on sleep hygiene and regular sleep- but from the time I go to bed to the moment I wake up, I've been stuck in survival mode thanks to financial stress and some other unfortunate stressors beyond my control. It's been really hard to manage enough self care to knock all of that down thanks to how extreme it's been. Sigh- gained 30 lbs and it's been inflammation city, yet I was in pretty peak health before this, with autoimmune stuff in remission and feeling great.

ОтветитьWhat a great interview. Thank you Shawn and Dr. Bikman. I recently found this amazing Dr. about 2 months ago. Was familiar with Dr. Fungs work but what Dr. Bikman does different is he really breaks it down to the WHY for the laymen. Coming from the calories in/calories out ideology I really needed to know the why so I understand the process I am looking for. Keto/Carnivore is what seems to be the magic bullet. So playing with those macros, giving up alcohol completely, and eating 90 percent sardines, salmon, and chicken thighs, down 30 pounds in a month an it was effortless. I walk 10,000 steps a day (that started as a competition at my job) Its been over for awhile but I just kept going. I love audible so I bought and listened to "Why We Get Sick" during my walks. Took a week to finish and I feel much more knowledgeable now.

ОтветитьIt is NOT lifelong. If these people would change their eating habits while on MJ like myself, can get off of it. My A1C was 7.5 in Oct 2023 it was 5.4 2 months ago & km down 90 lbs. I only take 5.0mg every other week now. I plan to get off of it when I get to goal weight (30 more to go) also when you eat keto or carnivore on MJ guess what?? NO side effects!

ОтветитьMy problem is carb addiction...so much so that I'm believing it's somehow genetic. I have to really focus and continually remind myself to NOT eat those sugary foods. Sometimes I find myself ignoring myself and eating it anyway. I've cut way back, but it's extremely difficult for me to eliminate them completely.
ОтветитьMy A!C is 5.6. That is prediabetes. i went to a functional medicine doctor and my levels were off the chart. i have a stressful job that has increased my stress and decrease hours of sleep. My diet is vegan, plant based, low carbohydrate mostly 80% raw. My high stress level is driving up my A1C. More lifestyle changes to come for me even I have to quite my job. This is a no brainer. I refuse to be a diabetic. Nothing in this world is worth my health. I appreciate this video.

My question is what happens when I have Lipodema which has been my problem since my teens I am now 64 years and have never had any breakthrough in resolving Lipodems, can a low carb way of eating assist?

ОтветитьEat whole grains and you don't need to care about insuline at all! Maybe someday, the civilization will understand this "magic" about whole grains. All the research still throws carbs into one basket, such a nonsense.
ОтветитьI am absolutely astounded: I just went to the Diabetes Canada website, and they have this written under "Causes of diabetes". They say, and I quote word for word...."End the myths and misinformation. Despite popular believe, diabetes is not caused by eating too much sugar, and people don't "give themselves" diabetes. Popular media often depicts disease and people with diabetes in an inaccurate and harmful light". DUH? Yes, this is November 2024 and this is still the official party line. Is it any wonder that people don't trust their health care providers any more?
ОтветитьI bet a leaky gut is also a big driver of inflammation as well. Fixing that might have a profound effect on insulin resistance if combined with proper nutrition and good sleep.
