I got hooked to the first game and how real the voice actors made it. It didn’t seem like they were reading off a script it sounded fluid and natural and in uncharted 2 I love that the characters actions and voices were in sync.

This game is vanilla, it set the foundation for the series that the sequels improved upon and expanded but when it comes to fortune the game it a product of its time, the gameplay is bland and the puzzles are ridiculous but it’s still a good game.

I love all the Uncharted games but I feel like if Naughty Dog had the balls, U1 could've been a great survival horror experiment in the third act. They should have leaned into the nazi zombies aspect of things, and had the heroes and villains be forced to work together to try to get off the island then have Navarro try to double cross Drake at the end building up to their fight. I loved the part where Drake and Eddy Raja have to team up but its too short of a section.

ND was trying to appeal to Indiana Jones adventure lovers, young through old. Not the "mature" audiences specifically. The first game has massive similarities to Raiders of the Lost Ark. They also had a hard time grasping development for the PS3 which is why Uncharted 2 is so much better. Love the video btw.

If you’re looking for competent baddies who get the MacGuffin and the hero has to try and get it back I would recommend the Mission: Impossible franchise.

Dude your “asides” and breaks in the video essay are way too often and very annoying. Just say what you’re going to say. I literally skipped to two random parts in your video and saw you talking to your lizard again both times.

No replay value? I'm sorry, friend, I've played this game more than twenty times since it's initial release and I still have a blast every single time. I was excited to see your reviews on this series and now I'm not sure I'll ever watch another video you ever post 😂 Sorry, dog, our opinions just differ too much on this one. It's like temple of doom: it may not be the best in retrospect, but it still holds a lot of value in the overall story and there's no sense in skipping it if you're gonna call yourself a fan(atic) of the series. It's bound to be hard to feel the connection to Sully or Elena if you don't see the trials of thier relationships in the first game. Like, season two of the walking dead show is almost universally shat on by fans, and don't get me wrong, you're allowed to be stupid, but how the fuck you gonna skip a whole season of a show you're a "huge fan" of?? I'm sorry, frog, but I'll die on this hill.

Well let me just put video game narratives at the time to perspective here.
This game had no pre-written script at all! Amy Hennig just wrote it as they went along with a bunch of help from Neil Druckmann and Josh Scherr and guess what? There are no writing credits at the end. None. Amy Hennig is just the director, Neil Druckmann is just a game designer and Josh Scherr is just a lead cinematic animator. No one gets any writing credits. You are completely correct to say that they were not concerned with writing some tight story at play here, that was never the intent and the end credits will corroborate that.

I’ve played the first Uncharted 5 times now. Given that I played in 3 different languages in total but still, love the game, the old feeling of it. And maybe because I find that old stylish mechanics which feel so much like an arcade game (combined with a story, characters and one liners)

I normally quite enjoy your reviews. This one is… lacking? There are things I would expect to be discussed or acknowledged that are brushed past. Then time will be taken to reiterate something multiple time in a row. There are also several contradictions.

All of that goes along with the most valid criticism that this game is lacking in many ways that are made up for by the story. Yet very little is acknowledged if it is not criticism, or somehow backhanded/contradictory/etc.

The absolute worst thing is that you have ruined several important things about the next three games, of which I am only partway through 2. The most notable of which was tossed in between two lines where you say the exact same thing, because the book preventing Sully’s death just was not an acceptable thing for you.

It really isn’t acceptable you gave away who we will be seeing as a female lead for the entire franchise. There will be no dramatic tension for me now. It’s also just absolutely fantastic to say EVERY TREASURE IN THE FRANCHISE is just some unimpressive shit. This really, really has been the worst video I’ve seen in a while.

The game only ties together the boring awful combat through the story. It’s going to be even more difficult getting through 2 knowing these things, and very unlikely if there aren’t very clear changes early on in 3. All of this after years of waiting to pick the franchise up with a clear mind.

The first time I played an uncharted game was when my Dad bought it at blockbuster when I was at shcool he bought UNCHARTED 2 and at the time I didn’t knew anything about uncharted I didn’t even knew that Uncharted existed at the time so when I arrived to my house my dad gave it to me and I saw the box cover and it looked cool I guess but when i played that game for the first time man I remember waking up at 2 AM on a Saturday just to play until the sun got up my eyes where al bloodshed and I lost the track of time , then Uncharted 3 boy was I exited when I saw that a friend of mine had it I ran to my local blockbuster and bought it ( had to pass all my exams first… thanks dad ) and man what a game , Uncharted 1 I knew it had to exist but I never paid attention to it but I got curious and bought it , now imagine playing 2 y 3 and then playing 1 for the first time after playing 2 y 3 … yep not a good experience but I liked the story and the nazi zombies scared the crap out of me… they still do and I liked the ending then with Uncharted 4 I was so exited I even put it on my Christmas list even tho the game wasn’t out yet I counted the days until it camed out finally after like 2 years same as 2 played it until I myself died or my mom got angry and told me to go to sleep and shut the console off now I’m 20 and still play uncharted thanks Noughty Dog for giving me a childhood to remember

Uncharted Drake’s Fortune is so good, I loved the island, Nate, Sully and Elena were all great characters, Eddy Raja was a really cool character, it was great to see him and Nate team up towards the end, the story was good, lots of fun action and exploration along with a great sense of mystery throughout the game, the Descendants, especially the Bunker section was really well done, great game still enjoy replaying it 👏👏👏👏

As someone who’s favourite Uncharted game is 1 this was something else

It so wired to hear the exact same reasons for liking the game be the reason for hating it I have to disagree i like that the game isn’t overly complex or blotted for the sake of it its more grounded in gameplay and design and that’s fine

sorry that a 2007 game didn’t have the 20 20 hindsight to cater to your modern day 2020 gaming standards

Haven’t seen all your other critiques of the series but I think you probably failed to mention that all games are basically the same story wise

Nathan starts off with a McGuffin to drive the story forward and then halfway Nathan loses faith and goes on a whiny rant about how the McGuffin doesn’t exist and how all this was for nothing but then out of nowhere the McGuffin peeks it head to continue the story forward

This is in all 1 2 3 and although 4 try’s to deviate from this narrative it still finds itself in the same place

Which is why I like 1 over all because no matter which one i was playing i still saw the first one in them all
