They say time heals everything but in reality it will always feel a piece of us that’s missing. Im all too familiar with the feeling of losing a loved one. My grandmother passed in 2017 to Cancer and I miss her so much every single day. I can’t even begin to imagine losing a child. 😔 My Condolences and Prayers for Strength to the Hughes Family. 💐

This video was so touching and heartbreaking. I am part of healthcare in Canada and I apologize for what happened and that it should have never happened. There is no accountability anymore and my heart breaks for your whole family. I was just sick hearing that this happened. He should have never been intubated, he was breathing on his own. I am just in shock of the decisions made that night and I send all the prayers and healing I can. I realize I am years late on my condolences, but your story is one that needs to be heard and change needs to happen.
I am disgusted at health care in time like these, when this never needed to happen and an "I'm sorry" is just not enough.
I am sorry that you were failed by the staff in that ambulance and you had every right to question the things you did. We as parents, family members need to feel free to question health professionals and you did that. He is watching over you from above the clouds, beyond the stars.

Tragic - so sorry

Just wanted to leave a comment to say that Drews story is being used as mandatory curriculum in my paramedic course. Our instructor is using his story to make sure we do our job correctly and with care. I’m so sorry his life couldn’t be saved, but I hope some peace can be found that y’all’s story is helping save more lives. - from a SC EMT and paramedic student.

I want you to know, Drews story inspires me to always be vigilant in everything I do in healthcare. I am also an instructor in EMS and my students watch this video so they will realize what not being vigilant can cause. I cry everytime I watch this and I want you and your family to know when I am teaching and on the ambulance Drew will always be with me making sure I do everything in my power to make sure that my patient receives the best care I can provide !!!
