Wow, I can really relate to this. My father was a Bolivian immigrant, he met and married my white mother, and he never really taught us our culture and where we came from. he too never taught my siblings and I spanish and i can really relate to this video. its nice to now know that i'm not the only person who felt like this too. Now i fully embrace my culture and im proud to call myself a Latinx

ОтветитьI also am a Mexican-American where my father is from Mexico and my mother is white. Unlike your story my father had 11 brothers and sisters (shocking) and with that came many cousins. My family was very close, having picnics every sunday and many, many fiestas. The difference was I was brought up to embrace who I was and where my father came from. Although my father never spoke Spanish to us growing up (other than a few words such as panza (stomach) stinky patas (feet) casones (underwear) and a few others there was still a sense of pride that he instilled in us. The reason he told us he never spoke Spanish to us was that he also wanted us to assimilate to the US culture and he felt this was the best way to do that. Years later he admitted that this wasnt the best idea, as the US has seen an influx in not only Mexicans, but latinos from around the world. I have been to the two tiny towns he grew up in in mexico as we made annual trips to pick up mi abuelito each summer and bring him to Ohio for his yearly visits. Mexico is a beautiful place filled with hard working people, great food and much national pride. Ive always said being Mexican isn't the fact you can speak Spanish but an inner self worth and pride in what you are as a person and I for one wouldn't change one thing. Viva La Raza
Ответитьlol my bro
Ответитьlove your video bro
Ответитьall mexican are mixed with spanish and native americans
Ответитьmexican its not a race, being hispanic you can be of any race, hispanic is a just term for people wich speak spanish
ОтветитьWhat is this? Just shoot me
ОтветитьIt's wierd cuz I'm half in half but look complete white. At least I don't burn😆👍
ОтветитьPretty much my parents but then i was adopted and i don't speak Spanish 😭😭
ОтветитьBeing from Mexico does not mean you are a different Race!! You can be Black, White, Asian... and still be Mexican (or from any Latin American Country)
😡😠😡😠😡
Latino or Hispanic is not a Race.
Mexican is NOT a race!!! you idiot!! you been brain washed!! LOL
ОтветитьMexican is not a race. Nor is Latino/Hispanic.
ОтветитьSometimes you just have to hide things in order to succeed in life. It’s sad but it’s true.
ОтветитьMexicans are not a race. Mexicans are already mixed race. That's why there are brown Mexicans, white Mexicans and everything in between. Some even look Asian.
ОтветитьYou aren’t mixed race. You are mixed ethnicity. Mexican is not a race boo.
ОтветитьBUT HE AINT FROM MEXICO, HE IS A GRINGO ILLINOIS. ITS CLEAR HE’S MOTHER IS A WHITE AMERICAN
ОтветитьMexican culture is something you should in-brace and appreciate our Mexican culture has so much love so much richness you know sometimes we just can’t see that ...I recommend you guys to learn more about the Mexican culture and also learn how to to speak Spanish it will make you hotter 🇲🇽🔥
Ответитьi relate but both of my parents are mexican and i look hella pale and i show my american accent a lot lmao
ОтветитьGod bless I’m also from Illinois
Ответитьbe proud your half Mexican you got that strong 💪 🇲🇽 blood
Ответитьby the way
you don't look italian
You fear you would be a different person, lesser than what you are now, if you were adjoined by your family from Mexico.
ОтветитьWhite privilege isn’t real.
ОтветитьWhite privileged is a problem but having minority is better?? 🤔🤔🤔
ОтветитьBeing Catholic means you’re European.. do your research....
ОтветитьYou’re white deal with it!!!
ОтветитьMy mom is Mexican and my dad is mexican I am just very pale lol.
ОтветитьMy experience is so much the same!!! My dad is from Mexico and my mom is from Washington State. I feel like I’m missing out on so much of MY culture because it was so ignored while I grew up. I get that my dad was busy trying to get by in a foreign country but it’s tough at the same time. I feel like I don’t belong anywhere :( I’m not white but people won’t let me BE Mexican because I’m white passing... whatever. I am who I am. I identify as Mexican AND American. But it’s tough that I have to tell people who I am and then have to convince them... :( it’s even more touch because I feel shunned by the Mexican community. Once I told another Latina I was Mexican and she instantly responded “hey, white passing privilege!” :( I admit that I’m privileged in the sense that I don’t have to face the same disparities others do because of the pigment of my skin. But at the same time, I feel like I’m left in limbo with no group to identify with and that’s tough. People always have to remind me of why I don’t fit in EXACTLY to the cultures I want to identify with. Ugh :(
ОтветитьThis dude is a duche
ОтветитьI think you do look mixed, so I will take that, but you could've have been not mixed even if your dad was from mexico, because I know 100% white people from Mexico.
ОтветитьMy dad is Puerto Rican and my mom is white/Italian so I’m Puerto Rican Italian and white
ОтветитьU look stupid
ОтветитьCommon people don’t be so ignorant typical American ignorance!! There no such thing as “Mexican-American” to refer someone born in the USA with Mexican ancestry, because that doesn’t exist! If you’re born in the USA you’re just American because Mexico it’s from the americas also so it’s an American country. You’re not born in Mexico and in America at the same time ! They just used that term to describe minorities same as African American they are just Americans ... so why they don’t call whites european Americans?? Because that what they are and that’s the system they use on everyone else? So white Americans are European Americans not just Americans.. the only real Americans are Native American people they are the ones that the “American “ name should be said to describe them
ОтветитьMexican is not a race idiot
ОтветитьMy mother is arabic and my father is spanish. I was born in spain too, so I'm basicly a half arabic spanish girl. But I live in Las Vegas....
Too much for me to understand.😑
mexican is a race
ОтветитьI'm Half Black, Half Mexican Cuh
ОтветитьIm not biracial and im fully mexican but how come i look more white than this dude?
ОтветитьStill Mexicans dont care about Mexican Americans much less about half Mexicans.
ОтветитьSeriously he considers himself light skin Mexican?! Even in Mexico he would be considered Moreno(brown)
ОтветитьMy father is half Puerto Rican and he grew up in a very Puerto Rican influenced neighborhood. I'm sad because he did hide his culture from critical people and didn't really carry it on. I feel so detached from it and I'm quite sad. I'm doing everything I can to reconnect.
Ответить"Mexican" is not a race. That is ridiculous
ОтветитьDo u know what am I cuz I keep seeing comments bout history and races to us. So my dad is a light skinned dude and he’s Mexican and my from is from Mexico too but she’s brown and i born in American so am I Native American or Spain and native???????or just idk
ОтветитьYour father = self-hating “tío Tomás” (Uncle Tom).
Ответитьmy mom is fully mexican born and raised and met my dad who is american and they had me and my sister! I speak fluent spanish. And im so happy my mom taught me. Spanish was technically my first language that i learned and than english. I celebrate my culture with my moms family i have no contact with my dads side so i dont really know much about them. im always with my mom side. I feel out of place though bc with my mom side im to american and with my dads im to mexican.
ОтветитьVery informative and it explains why many people may feel the same way. It's sad because nobody should be ashamed of who they are and who their family is. It's so sad that the color of your skin can determine your life experiences. From racial profiling based on skin shade. I'm multi-raced and am lighter than my brothers but I never bought into using my skin tone as a privilege. I have always stood against using my whiteness to separate myself. I know it's wrong and not justified. Everyone deserves an equal chance to create the life they desire. This white privilege needs to be eliminated. It causes division and harm to darker brown and black humans. 💜💚💙✝🤎🖤🤍❤❤💎💛🙏🌈🥰😘
ОтветитьWhy are Mexican depicted as a brown indigenous person? It’s a nationality compose of various ethnicities
ОтветитьWhat is your favorite thing from Mexican culture that's greatly influenced you and you couldn't imagine living without? (Tacos are a given!)
Ответить
