i mean she’s right. you should put thought into her personality, her energy, and her vibe if you can’t at least remember her favorite flowers. does she give off a more mature, sensual and reserved vibe? based on the frequency of a certain color of clothes she wears, do you think she likes red, pink or black? get her roses of that color. does she give off a youthful, cheery, extroverted energy? is she vibrant and loud or is she sentimental and romantic? maybe get her daisies or something yellow or pink. is she a mother? or maybe someone further along in age? does she give of a gentle and nurturing energy? get her chrysanthemums.

even if it’s not her favorite flower, as long as you explain your thought process behind why you got her these flowers—something like “sorry, i couldn’t remember your favorite flowers, so i just got ones that reminded me of you. roses usually represent…./ daisies usually represent…./ chrysanthemums usually represent…, and that’s what i feel when i look at/ am with you”—then she’ll like them (most likely). it certainly is the thought behind the gift that counts, not just the gift. lots of people prefer to get gifts that are meaningful or full of thoughtfulness and love, regardless of if they like it or not, versus a gift that had no thought put behind it and was just given to them in a rush/because you feel obligated to.
