Have you ever been bitten by a Saddleback catapillar? You can find them mostly on the dried stalks of corn. We always called them Packsaddles but their sting is so horrific you think it's killing you. That's the first thing that entered my mind when I say you and Chris in the corn.

Pay VERY careful attention to wind direction after you have been stung. They leave a hormone on you which causes the rest of the wasps to attack. If you reapproach the nest from up wind, they may well come after you again, even if you are several yards away.

Bee stings seem to stop hurting after 15 minutes. I got swarmed by swamp mosquito one time wearing shorts and still hurting for 3 hours later. I ran a mile and my legs were completely covered in blood trying to get them off of me. I had Off repellent but they bit right through that stuff like nothing. In south Georgia near the Okefenokee swamp. I'd rather be stung by bees than do that again.

Reference yellow jackets, if you mash one, it releases a pheromone into the air, and every yellow jacket in the area will swarm to the odor. It is a distress call to them. Be safe.
