Ha!!
Yes, Boudica humiliated Rome by getting slaughtered, even though her army outnumbered the 14th legion 20:1.
She did inflict heavy casualties and torture on Briton provinciale civilians, though.
Stunning and brave!

This script is BS! Romans sacrificed humans..... The Roman Triumph was finished off at the temple of Jupiter Optimus where they would sacrifice some white oxen and a prized captive would be ritualistically strangled. There is also the captives sent to their deaths for entertainment of the populace. This script is whitewashing Roman brutality to keep the roots of western civilization clean and holy.

She died in a similar fashion as Cleopatra which is by suicide through poisoning. Death before dishonor. It's just sad to read about such a woman whom stood up for her people and her family and in the end lose. Overall she died with some honor and dignity.✊🏿💪🏿 She fought alongside her people and roared with hellish fury. It was sad king prasutagus died.

This is more a fairytale then real history..... the hole story actually shows that Boudicca was a bad leader......and there was no fight for freedome...it was AD 60....freedom was not a thing at this point in history......

The fact is, it was just another rebellion within the roman empire, no more, no less....as with many others, like judea. Historians make much more of it than it really was, perhaps out of pride. Yes, what was done to her was wrong, but so was slaughtering towns of roman civilians in retribution. Not something glorious to beam pride over, but a lesson to learn.

This program felt very heavily biased in favor of Rome and against the tribes, yes? Some of the language in here was very slanted and there was a lot of propaganda that was propped up. The narrator repeatedly said "sacrificial groves" rather than "sacred groves," for example. The word "savage" was actually used over and over, too. There was a lot of discussion of how much better life was under the Romans. I feel like there was some good information in here but also take it with a very big pinch of salt because whoever wrote this was definitely not looking backward from a neutral place in history. The idea that the Romans were any less “savage” than the Britons because they used channels to drain sewage away is slanted to say the least.

Romans had a nasty habit of humiliating captives, parading them through the streets, and finally in the arena for entertainment. I'm sure Boudicca knew this, and chose this death rather than the Roman way.

Did I just watch a Roman propaganda video? How can a story about Boudicca spend 3/4 of its time telling us how wonderful the Roman Empire was and the people should be happy they were there. Also the main source he kept talking about was another Roman who write about it 100 years later.

seems like an anti-Roman bias or something pretty sure this channel has done the same before and that they are a "diverse" crowd considering the favoring of egypt, its like they want to present these documentaries with their politics and they present the people they LIKE favorably while presenting the people they dislike unfavorably as much as possible regardless of what the history is. like a diverse crowd is trying to divide European people today through past events that have been misrepresented.

This is a major step down in quality for this channel and the documentaries it hosts. Whoever made it clearly worships Rome and has a poor grasp on the actual history and culture of the Celtic peoples. The horrific stories about their supposedly bloody religion are largely considered to have been Roman propaganda to drum up support and justify their brutal expansionist policy. There has been very little actual evidence found to support the claims of Caesar and his cronies regarding Druidic human sacrifice. The odd bog mummy, and we know the Irish at least practiced headhunting to some extant, but nothing whatsoever to support the wild claims about mass human sacrifice and brutality. From what we do know they were actually quite civilized in most regards. The Romans really laid the groundwork for colonialism, and the use of propaganda to paint the locals as brutal savages in need of taming and civilizing, something repeated almost 2000 years later during European colonization of the New World.

The writers even repeated the myth about naked Celtic warriors. It might have been done by one group on the continent to avoid getting their clothing caught on brambles once, but somehow that super rare occurrence got blown up into wild tales of Celts always running into battle.

The writers of this doc clearly had a severe bias and didn't do their homework at all and it makes for a very poor presentation.

This documentary is the real humiliation. You do realize that some people still follow Celtic beliefs right? Some people still practice Druidism? It’s stated that they sacrificed and ate people. That’s what the Romans recorded. That can’t be fully trusted and was most likely propaganda. “The Romans brought culture, trade ect.” There was plenty of that before the Roman’s. What a biased documentary. All it did was repeatedly call the Celtics and Druids savages and cannibals.

I think queen boudica only humiliated herself through her severe bloodlust. She rampaged through southern Britannia killing both Roman's and britains indiscriminately, as well as men, women, and children. When the final confrontation occurred, her arrogance caused the deaths of most the army with her, and the train of people following. She totally failed, in that she was fighting against the progressive and technologically advanced lifestyle the Roman's were offering. After her and her armys death, Britain clung to Rome for over 350 years, even begging rome to stay in 410 when Rome pulled out.

Did she intimidate the writers of this documentary as much as she did the Romans? Seems likely. "Feisty" is a word you might use to describe Pippy Long Stockings, not an extremely powerful tactician and leader who showed an exuberant amount of intelligence and strength in the midst of a shear tragedy, but sure diminish her place as a literal warrior queen.

ONE OF THE GREATEST HEROINES IN THE HISTORY OF CIVILISATION.
Boudica led a very large army of Iceni, Trinovantes and others against a detachment of the Legio IX Hispana, defeating them and burning Londinium and Verulamium. An estimated 70,000–80,000 Romans and Britons were killed in the three cities by those following Boudica, many by torture. I say jolly good. I say live free or die. What a magnificent woman this Boudica, a redhead decendant of Medusa. A Goddess. A rarefied legend for the eternity of the United Kingdom.

The Roman legion’s fighting force was not 6000 “heavy infantry” as stated by the show-writers. There were usually skirmishers, regular infantry, heavy infantry, archers, some artillery, and a couple units of cavalry. The start of Gladiator gives something of the idea.
