You are so right! A lot of people lack confidence in their own singing! I used to be like this, then long story short I ripped my breathing ventilator out in the hospital and they told me I may never be able to talk/sing anymore. In that moment I realized that I loss the one thing that would lead me to my dream (my dream is to help others with my music and performance). Today, with the help of music therapy, respiratory therapy, and now voice lessons I’m singing again and have joined a band as their vocalist/frontwoman. I’m so excited to see where my journey takes me and I know I can get there with determination! I tried your exercises and they did really help. Also, I really enjoy your videos they help quite a lot too in my own singing! Thank you! Keep it going! 😊

I 1000% agree with you but I guess this does not apply to beginners. I can't think of a single good thing about my singing nor my speaking voice. I tend to speak loud and nasal when I get excited and happy. Immediately, I get scold so I turn my voice down or stop speaking completely. I've only been to 4 singing lessons and I'm pretty excited to see the results in 1 or 2 years, and I try not to get discouraged, but it's so difficult :(
In those 4 lessons the only thing I learned is that my voice breaks easily, my range is pretty small, I sound breathy and uninspiring. God, the list of bad things in my voice is too much and I try not to think about that to not block myself.
Thank you for your video!

Hi! I’ve been having trouble with flexibility in my voice. I think it’s breath related, but I have trouble just moving from one note to another. I’ve isolated my jaw so it doesn’t move, I don’t feel tense anywhere, I’ve reduced volume, and i sing with a mix resonance in the nasal cavity for agility. And despite being able to do long riffs fast, I have trouble just switching from one note to another at normal speed. I’ve been singing for years and years and this has been my underlying issue. Do you have any ideas on what the issue might be? Do you think it’s breath related?

This message came just at the right time coz I'm the kind that's crazy hard on myself. I recognize that I have long term goals however I've made some huge progress as of now. The fact that I like the sound of my recorded voice today, and that total strangers like it too, is a gargantuan win. But guess what; I beat myself up for not matching up to all my dreams yet. I've chosen to stop doing that thanks to your message. I accept that certain abilities are for the long term. And I'm downloading this vid as a reminder

Challenge accepted! So I did write 17 things I love about singing, and 24 (I'll think about more later) about what I love about my voice but I'm just beginning so more people will say good things about my voice in the future. Right now it's related to progress and your supportive comments of course haha. really great video, Carrie! My voice matters because I sing my stories so each persons' own stories are incredibly powerful. the messages within songs can help others or just provide a nice feeling or comfort to them (especially in some time when my voice is even better). words are super powerful !
