Engineering background here with a couple of recommendations number one don’t get it at Apple get it at Amazon or Best Buy because from time to time they go on sale.
Number to the MacBook pros are obviously nicer but they also cost significantly more and the starting 14 inch MacBook Pro is around $1500 without any upgrades

Rather than spending $400 on ram and SSD upgrades I just paid $35 for external SSD Drive on Amazon prime day
To save some money forget about AppleCare and their magic mouse Apple is just trying to make money off of you you can get comparable app Apple compatible mouses that are wireless, for 15 to 20 bucks chances are in three years your battery is not going to go bad because Apple products are a good quality .
If you get 15 inch MacBook Air upgrades might as well get the MacBook Pro and pay a couple hundred dollars more .

I’m going to be a grad student at Johns Hopkins and I need a laptop for school so I got the 13 inch MacBook Air with the external SSD drive of 256 I also got a few things for it including USB converter port and HDMI port .

If you’re worried about the 120 HD resolution you can always hook up an HDMI cable or hook up your MacBook Air wirelessly to your smart TV . Then you can use the screen on your smart TV instead.
I even do music and video editing and 8 GB of RAM still works . The only thing is you just can’t have multiple windows open which is not a big deal

I also like to keep my laptops for about five years and get another one and keep it under $1000 so for me the MacBook Air is the win

Of course you could go crazy and get the 16 inch MacBook Pro, with a couple of upgrades and AppleCare, and push it closer to $3000 US , with some apps. If you have the money, go for it i am not mad at you.

We need to stop this fake discussion of everyone and his/her dog pretending that organizing your holiday shots once a year makes you a media professional that cannot live without a world class screen and can only get on with it with 36gig of RAM and a gazillion processor cores.

you never mention the 13 inch vs the 15 inch macbook air, and you keep talking about the 8 gb of memory as if that is the only choice you have, when we know there is the 16 gp of memory which will make a difference in using the air for more chanllenging task. So you talk a lot but, you leave out important information

Never buy a macbook with 8 GB. It's way too less. 16 GB at least. 36 is better.

You contradict yourself so much! First the M3 Air is fine for all but the most demanding tasks. Then later on it's a glorified typing machine. Also when comparing the M3 Air to the M2 Air, don't forget that M3 chip is a lot better with onboard Raytracing and lower power draw.

I will not got 15inch in air bcs it’s not worth it, if i will spend i will spend in m3 pro, (and in my home i can use external monitor if i need multi tasking).

I don’t know what he is talking about when he says on air you can do one thing at a time. And on pro you can do all things in parallel. Absolute bullshit. It only depends upon the processor , ram and graphics card only. Other than that is its interfaces and ports etc. seriously. If you buy right config. You can do whatever you want on both.

Why would anyone in today’s date buy any Mac with less than 16g ram. Why. Why. Why. When you compare the prices of Mac prongs Mac air. Please check the same config prices. So that only decision left is extra money for display , and ports difference. And of course weight

Lets be honeast about ram on MAC 8GB is to little for EVERYONE!!!! When a MAC is dping nothing its idle at 5-6 GB ram usage. U have to read the numbers as the graph is incorrect. This means that 2GB is for all tasks and Vram usage. Once you run out of ram the SSD Hard drive memory takes over. The MAC still feel quite fast but you wear out the SSD at blazing speed if you use it in this way. This is why Computers has RAM and Solid State Storage seperated.
