I played through GG Aleste last year and loved it! Looking forward to playing the second game sometime soon.

I was really considering getting the RetroFreak or the Retron, but I'm still holding out to see what happens with the Polymega (was Retroblox). Great to see they are adding more systems to these.

So can you play game gear games on your regular sega genesis with the adapter?

Why buy a converter to put on top of another converter just to play Sega Master System games? Just buy the Power Base Mini plug it into any Genesis systems or clones and there ya go SMS games on Genesis without hiccups. If anything get this for the Mark III, SG-1000, and Game Gear games, the reason why they didn't make it SMS compatible was because there were Sega Master System converters out there already.

How does this work on the RetroN 5? I have that one and the Hyperkin 3 in 1. I know the Game Gear, and Card will be redundant, but I like the carts that this one supports too. (Win win imo)

Psychic World looks pretty good. I'm using my converter to play Master of Darkness as I watch this. I scored it yesterday for $10. So now you have answered my question and I have eBay'e a SMS to Mark 3 adapter for $22 w shipping from Canada. I love my Retro Freak! Earlier today I could not get it to play Back To The Future at all though. Other than that if this thing played repros it'd be the greatest thing ever ever lol. Great Vid!

Mark 3 is not japan's master system,japan's master system actually takes mark 3 carts and were mostly ports so MD was on the horizon. Mark 3 is its own thing,with it's mark 2 and sg-1000 before it. Master system in japan was a huge failure mostly just being ports of the mark 3 library,so older games new system look was not gonna work. Mark 3 carts were not used outside of japan so new carts for the rest of the world were used with mark 3 software. In the end we just got some mark 3 games in english using different cart shells.

Say if I buy a Retro Freak and I will play SMS dumped from catridge - then I can use this adapter + converter. But can I use the original Power Base adapter too. But will other adapters work?
Technical it shouldn't be any difference. The pinout was made to activate the SMS chip on Mega Drive / Genesis.

I tried to use this on my Model 1 Genesis, and the screen won't come on with the SG-1000 games, and the Game Gear games came on, but the colors are inverted and it won't start up.

How the hell do I get this Gear Converter to work?? Can anyone help me out? I finally got the converter & I put it in the console & it does absolutely nothing.

I know this is an old video but I just want to say I enjoyed it, thank you. Just in case you never knew, I have an adapter like yours but it actually runs Master System carts rather than Mark 3. It cost me a pretty penny but was worth every coin!
