I run the OEM Brembo pads. RockAuto has them.

For track duty, CarboTechs.

Hawks are good pads, but they have to warm up a bit. Prefer them to the stoptech streets that grip nicely under normal braking, but fade pretty quickly.

Another thing I've learned as my EVO doesn't drive as much, is to use a little anti seize on the very top and bottom of the pads (the repair manual has it too), also clean the pins thoroughly of oxidation and add maybe a little anti seize at the brake pad holes. Over time and not driving enough, they tend to cause your pads to stick and bad brake performance.

I know I may also need a caliper rebuild but it certainly helped by doing the anti seize and cleaning of the pins

It’s the front and rear caliper bolt the same?

Nice, I've been in the front, and use those Hawks, havent touched the rears yet, they look fine. The cars only got 28K on the clock, one thing you should look into is Crown brake lines, i put G-Speed stainless (Circa 2004) on mine, but Crown looks like a better line, makes a huge difference. (ur welcome) Can custom size them too, like i did for my 85' HiLux, in case you have a special application. Evo 7,8,9 are a kit on the site, best money spent per performance... $150ish 4 lines.... just a thought.

Cool channel, thanks for all the parts numbers. Subbed and Belled.

Another thorough video thank you. Using hot water with a little dish washing liquid and an old toothbrush is a great way to remove the brake dust from the old pins, shims & caliper guides. To hold the caliper out of the way and minimise strain on the brake hose I use a length of welding wire to hang the caliper from a suspension coil. Corrosion can sometimes seize these caliper mounting bolts into the alloy Brembo caliper. Penetrating oil and a few days of patience can be the difference between success or needing to helicoil insert the caliper. Thanks for the reminder about the OEM wheels and flat washer OEM lugnuts.

Who knew those metal shims quiet the brake pads so much. I stopped using HP+ because I find them having no modulation and the brake dust are really really corrosive. I really like the Project Mu Club Racer if you do HPDE, otherwise the Hawk 5.0 is a good alternative for the streets.
