Microphone recording techniques using the Royer R122 Vacuum Tube microphone

Russ I agree with your advice on using single Mics for recording guitar cabs, multi-mics don't do it for me either. Lately I have returned to the old Nashville way of recording guitars using a blanket over the speaker cabs as I find this produces a much sweeter sound than the modern approach. Warning; recording this way can be a fire hazard, so make sure someone is always present during the recording process so that the cabs don't overheat.
