what my kids actually play with | DECLUTTER toys without guilt + kids toy decluttering motivation

Exploration play is what visiting friends or church/ school toy set ups are for. Also how are you planning on culling/ managing your older kids toys once baby is exploring. I’m pregnant with my 3rd too and not sure how to handle this. Either all tiny toys in older kids shared room with gate but that feel isolating. So still a bit of time to think about that but curious to see how you might handle it.

I got bins off Amazon that have one side with a window and the other is solid. When they’re young they are very visual so they can see everything then for future turn them around to hide the clutter. Also batching like things. Puzzles in one bin, little people and accessories (house/cars/etc) in one bin. That way they can play with all like items at one time instead of hunting down what goes with what. Also good for clean up and moving around the house. Take one bin upstairs toss all items back in bin then store back in “playroom”.

You could probably use glue dots on the puzzle names.

I found I was way more attached to toys than the kids. Now I just go through them and downsize or declutter them and they don’t even ask for them. Great video! ❤

We keep the annoying electronic leap frog style toys and magnetic boards for the car. I could totally tune them out in the car. Not the house for some reason.😂

Stick the letters onto their bedroom doors

Maybe keep a couple figures with the magnetiles to build houses for, and the rest downstairs?

I totally feel how frustrating it is when something feels like a big deal even though you know it isn't. It doesn't help 🥲

My Son Was Very Young When I Would Declutter His Toys And He Had No Problem Getting Rid Of His Toys. And Now That He Is Grown And Has Kids He Cannot Stand Clutter.

I always put clear packing tape over the speaker output on noise making toys. Why are they so dang loud?? It muted the sounds enough that they weren't so shrill, but easier to listen to.

You did a great job! I have been working on getting rid of tous for years! I have four kids 8-almost 2 and I feel like every time I get a handle on it, the holidays or a birthday comes. I will be using this video as motivation for sure!

Kids are super visual, so I think clear bins instead of those (very beautiful) baskets in the cube storage self might make a difference.

Omg...I remember doing this with my 3 sons. It is a lot harder than you think. All of my sons are in their 40s now and they STILL bring up certain toys I got rid of, mostly star wars stuff. They would go from star wars to super heros to whatever else and there just wasn't enough room.😢😂

Duplo, we keep our favourite pieces from different sets. My boys don't like the train pieces but love the 4x4 blocks.

I remember that you just divided the magnatiles in half and only kept half. Is that going well for you. I tried it for us and it was so much better because they didn't end up everywhere like they usually do.

My kids are the exact same age and all. We will be trying for baby number three soon. I’m debating on just keeping the kids toys in their rooms tbh. Or if I should make them share

Maybe keep the little people figurines that you know your daughter likes playing with in her room and the ones you’re not sure about keeping and like you originally did have some madhouse in her room and some in the playroom the playroom

Ive decluttered alot. switched the baskets to semi clear ones from target and helped so much to see the items and i quit toy rotations! However, it might still be too much or too much of the items because i think we both get overwhelmed with all of the options. We have a couple alot of sets of building toys plus other categories. Idk if i should cut the pieces of all categories in half and time will tell box the rest or get rid of categories entirely even though he might grow into it later? 😢

Target has the acrylic bins for them shelves. We love them my daughter can see her toys and goes for them more then she use to when they was put up.

I'm a new subby . I'm really loving your declutter vlogs. They are so great to watch a vlog where you actually show us what you're decluttering with tips . It's refreshing to watch a vlog that you're talking through it instead of just playing music over it. These kind of videos gives me motivation . 🙂

I will say my daughter was not into some toys when she was younger, ans I thought because it was her age appropiated she should be. So sometimes you have to wait for then to grow a bit to play with some toys...

I have been following with you. Got out all the rotation, saw what was of interest for my 2 boys (10 month and 3). Decluttered some then but went back again. For the first time, my 3 year old played with his kitchen like it was intended, not just dumping everything out. He made coffee, cupcakes and really engaged in pretend play. He woke up this morning and wanted to get right back to it!

Before the birth, maybe review the toys again?

I had 3 babies in three and a half years, and the best thing I ever did was get rid of all our toys. I’m not overwhelmed, I’m not exhausted, I’m not cleaning up toys and pieces all day and trying to manage everything. All we have left now are magnatiles and animals. It has made my life as a mom to three littles soooo easy!! My boys don’t like toys, they want to jump on the couch, build forts, and play outside, and my baby girl just wants to crawl around after them all day ☺️

Maybe you shouldn't de-clutter while pregnant. Sorry, makes me sad that you're getting rid of toys they ask for. The laptop play computer? How would you feel if someone donated a book you were enjoying? Sorry Allison, I watch you all the time but, just saying...and just my opinion.

Don't get rid of the couch. Lol, just teasing.
