I have ME/CFS, am mostly bedridden and use a wheelchair. My primary care provider ordered home health. The occupational therapist determined I don't need help on the first visit. She mentioned METs to me but refused to explain them or help me. She told me I could use the internet to learn about them. I was devastated and am now researching to find out what an OT does so I can hopefully help myself. I blamed myself thinking my expectation for an OT were unreasonable but after doing research I realize this is not the case. For all of you who are OTs please check out the WorkWell Foundation website. They explain ME/CFS and have training through the MedBridge site for PTs and OTs on how to help us. Working with an OT could really help us. This is a real illness, we are not lazy. 🌻
