Why were so many people willing to get thousands killed for a job that had a very high chance of being murdered?
ОтветитьYou didn't mention the root cause for the "Crisis of the 3rd century" and focused only on internal and only Roman Empire's political struggles. Root cause was climate change, plague, famine. Why do you think those "barbarians" were looking for better lands and life and all those "invasions" intensified? And it never stopped till they conquered Western Roman Empire.
ОтветитьWe need another Aurelian right now to save the world
Ответить"Them Romes them Romes gonna... Stab around!
Them Romes them Romes gonna... Stab around
Third Century Crisis gonna... shake the ground!
Let's count the Emperors down!"
Reading up on it, you can really feel how impossible the odds were against Rome at this time. The Roman Empire during the Crisis of the 3rd Century experienced 26 claimants to the title of the emperor within a span of 50 years, fragmentation into 3 separate states, and was constantly pushing back foreign invasions. An empire as large as Rome was at the time should've already fallen and imploded with such a bleak situation. Yet it survived long enough for a great ruler to rise to the throne. Yet this also goes to show how influential the Roman Empire was to the modern world. Not only due to their military prowess, their inclusive culture, and their adaptive government. But also their sheer will and "never say die" attitude. It bears weight when historians say that Rome was "late to the party, late to die". I don't think the even the early Romans would've ever imagined their nation and descendants to have lasted for over TWO MILLENIA
Aurelian definitely deserved his title as restitutor orbis , or "Restorer of the World"
So my response to people that imply that individuals and interests here will try and subvert me is that the US 'Roman Empire' is in the decline. Artificial Intelligence (powered by satan), and all the new tech won't substantially reverse the decline, so I'm not worried. China presents a counter-balance to US influence any-whoo...
ОтветитьI knew history was complex but shit, these guys never had anytime to rest.
ОтветитьValerian was used by the Persian King as a footstool so the king would step on his back to climb his horse
ОтветитьI love history and this segment here but the saddest part for me here was mentioned in one sentence. That is one of the most important loses in the ancient world- the destruction and burning of the Alexandrian library.
ОтветитьTFW you be playing Total War: Rome 2 on Legendary and the AI just keeps spawning free armies to throw at you...
ОтветитьTrue the barbarians we're a problem but Rome had other problems such as the crisis of the 3rd century Which is what lead Rome to it's untimely collapse during the 4th century cause the crisis not only damaged the empire but it tore Rome apart by it's threads and core
ОтветитьHistory = kill and be killed
ОтветитьSo rising Inflation, Currency crisis, Internal Strife and greater number of foreign enemies led to demise of the empire....hmm where have we been hearing this these days!!!
Ответитьit could penetrate 3 inces of metal ??? if its like this maybe we can use it today in modern warfare ...are you sure about it?
ОтветитьRome was superior to other nations for a while but in the end the others caught up
ОтветитьThis is so interesting, incredible! Your videos are so informative and well done! Huge fan!
ОтветитьHonestly, if the Roman empire had just focused on fighting its enemies and not itself, it probably could have conquered Germania, the Sassanids and Arabia and still have ended up with fewer causalities then the civil wars and raiding.
ОтветитьRomes theme song through the third century:
"I need a Hero"
It is said that emperor Valerian was ambushed by the Sassanids during peace talks and captured there, although as always and specially during the crisis of the third century, we can't be sure about it
Ответить"Give us a man from humble beginnings, give us a leader our armies will follow, give us emperor AURELIAN"
ОтветитьIt's better to see this through the worldview of the time... specially the transition from believing in many Gods to believing in a single God. Then from one Church to several denominations.
Ответитьgallienus and Aurillian are soo great :( and their death are so tragic and sad..like ceasar
ОтветитьThis map is wrong, where is the Armenian Kingdom? It was captured by the Romans and Persians only in 387.
ОтветитьStop begging money on Patreon !
ОтветитьNice video 💪
ОтветитьWas it irony when he said "his paranoia lead to his assasination"
ОтветитьThe Crisis ended with the systems that started the collapse of the Empire
ОтветитьThe split of the Empire was a brilliant political move. It provided the basis for the survival of the Empire in the East for another millennia. It failed upon the religious divide between Eastern and Western Churches which eventually undermined all Christianity. However, should those barbarians and their successors that had taken control of Rome and the West after the fall of the Western Empire had been a little more thoughtful in the following centuries, Constantinople and (some successor to) the Eastern Empire would still be in place today.
ОтветитьRome was built on bloodshed, bribes and betrayal
ОтветитьThis period coincidentally took place at the same time as the Han Dynasty collapsed, starting the Three Kingdoms period in Far East, similarly in the Roman Empire at this time there were also 3 forces controlling parts of the empire.
ОтветитьEnter AURELIAN
ОтветитьIts incredible how many bad emperors rome had compared to byzantium
ОтветитьThe greatest imperator of Roma empire Aurelian😢
ОтветитьMan, Rome, China, what was going on in the Third Century?
Ответитьcan we a have a series about his already?
ОтветитьThe emperor system just wrecked Rome but it also gave us good emperor from time to time but yeah it just led to Rome's collapse as many of them was assassinated or just wrecked everything before they leave or create any good reforms just like Aurelian and Majorian would could prolonged the lifespan of the empire until a new restitutor orbis spawns like an interval of 200 years
Ответить“His paranoia led to his assassination” is the funniest line from any of these.
Ответитьthe tenacity and resiliency of the roman empire is beyond me, just in time of the collapse they'd be saved by a competent emperor
ОтветитьKings and Generals needs to make a series on this
ОтветитьUsing total wars music
Ответитьgreat video
ОтветитьVery educational
ОтветитьWhat happened after Diocletian ??
