Even NAZIS' could not get away with killing like that. They would have sent the guy to a concentration camp or had a trial and shot him.

Why does he call him captain when they call Smith Gruppenführer, it would just be Hauptsturmführer.

I see some awkwardness in Americans wearing Nazi uniforms on a daily basis and giving the Nazi salute. Americans are easy going people and the stiffness of the Nazi regime just didn't fit Americans very well. It's like "yo dude! Heil Hitler ".

As a person with profound agoraphobia, I understood what Smith was doing - very early in the scene - as he positioned himself with his back to the building, facing Connolly ... I remember how tense I felt watching this, realizing what was going to happen

John felt like a snake in this drama! He showed a very impressive acting as a Nazi SS.

It should be noted that many of the American SS are loyal to John rather than to Germany which allowed John to cover up all his illegal works.
Season 4 covered it well as John and some of the American Reich leaders schemed to remove Germany's control over America.
The scheme was successful but it was too late to remove the Nazi Ideology from America.

And to think this is not part of the original book 📕.

The only critique is having been on the roof of the World Trade Center many many times obviously before 9/11, is that you can’t hear ground level sirens or screams. It’s oddly silent.

Always thought it was funny that the two "American" nazis in this scene are actually British (Rufus Sewell) and Canadian (Neal Bledsoe).

That was actually a big problem for the Nazi’s. They were so divided and focused on their own power they couldn’t effectively win the war. In 1943 when Goebbels called for Total War it was hampered by Martin Bormann’s red tape and such.

Plus men like Göring didn’t wanna sacrifice the luxuries they had. Göring kept his restaurant open and while Germans were starving he had enough food for his pets that could’ve fed an entire village for days. Göring was also just completely overconfident in his Luftwaffe and the pilots and was not a good commander. That’s why Dunkrik was a German failure and why Britain won the air war in 1940.

Even though John only joined the Nazis to protect his family you can really see he's fully embraced Nazism as he will tie up any loose ends to reach to the top. Even alternate John Smith admits that his command position as a Captain in the U.S. Army got to his head and that's why he left and says if he would have stayed with the army it would have consumed him like how power consumed Nazi John . Same with Connolly he clearly spoke with Heydrich before hand as way to get rid of John .

I was expecting to hear a faint but loud boom from below.
