can you please give me the name of the author that animates scenes from her books? I didn’t find her in the links in the bio
ОтветитьI feel Calli made that response video was trying to act like she was not scamming them and use any excuse possible. I feel the people who she did that to should in my opinion if possible get a charge back from their money so they don't feel like they lost their money. I understand why they did not know better at the time
ОтветитьWhile i wouldn't pay them either I'd trust the other book tokers she mentioned in her video that supposedly charge more to live up to their end of the bargin.
ОтветитьIndies should just send out their books to reviewers for free (after asking the reviewer) instead of spending a lot of money for random adverts. The influencer has to disclose the ad and if it's an ad the consumers won't be buying it...
ОтветитьIf they signed a contract, they need to file charges of theft with the courts and then take her to small claims court. Hopefully there were signed contracts. Otherwise…bad move on everyone’s part
ОтветитьUgh! She reached out like two weeks before all this went down and, of course, I paid her. As an indie author, I was so desperate to get my book out there that I thought ooh maybe a booktoker with a huge following will be the ticket. Yah no. I’ve tried to get my $ back, but she’s made it impossible to contact her. I feel so DUMB.
Ответитьand that's why you don't do business transactions without a contract. because if someone does this kind of shit and you have a contract to prove they didn't uphold their end of the transaction you can sue the living daylights out of them much more easily. i think you could probably try to sue even without a contract, but a contract is the ultimate proof.
ОтветитьWhat a jerk. As a creator and a lapsed wannabe novelist, this hurts my heart. I tend to be trusting and take people at face value and people like this Calli twit make me sick.
ОтветитьI'm on the other end of the spectrum. I agreed to proofread an indie authors book and corrected more than half of it in exchange of a free copy and after the half way mark the author stopped replying to my email. My bf was originally upset with me for "working" for so little, and now I'm terrified of him asking about it because I know I'll get smack talk for being stood up for months on end.
ОтветитьMy first time here❤ idk whyy but you are reminding me of the cute little sister in hocus pocus with the black hat😂❤❤❤ thank u for this content
ОтветитьI hope at the least this teaches people about contracts and making business decision investments that are put in writing with legit people… not a girl reaching out to you that has had nothing but drama!!!
ОтветитьIt’s unethical to accept money for a review without telling the audience. Basically it’s a commercial.
Ответить“i can be the hated one” is so annoying
ОтветитьOmg it’s granny vhagar talking about booktok
ОтветитьThe fact that she used a message from her ex thanking her for not saying things "she could have said" about him and claiming it vindicates her of any claims of abuse is INSANE to me. It is so textbook abusive partner behavior to cherrypick positive admissions and gratitude in order to absolve them of their sins in the public eye when they're caught.
Ответить🇵🇸🇵🇸
ОтветитьThis upsets me so much. As a Book Reviewer i NEVER promise a review. I have done unboxings and TBRs but being paid for a review just pisses me off.
ОтветитьDon't pay for reviews. If anyone asks to be paid, drop 'em.
Ответить‘Don’t have a bone in my body that cares’ disgusting response to taking innocent peoples money.
ОтветитьApparently she is publishing a book herself now. I saw it on Threads this week.
ОтветитьI'm sorry, I had to legit do 50,000 double takes to see her bundle are around $600?! You can use $600 in SO MANY better ways for advertising before and after your book launch. Please, if there are any indies out there struggling for promo ideas, comment below and I'll help in any way I can.
ОтветитьFor the Algorithm ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьDid she disclose that she was being paid to promote these books? Because if not, I'm not sure that's legally ok. Offering to leave PAID Goodreads reviews is also a big no.
ОтветитьAre you saying that you send your product to some unknown person without a lawyer or legal binding contract-its old school but so what be old school and protect your product-- if it were this easy to get a book or video published, there'd be lots of new and great nooks out there, which there are not.
Why do you trust "your creators." I cant believe you dont get out there yourself and cìrculate and promote without these internet criminals.
It is criminal, do you know that?
A real life attorney and/or editor would never let you send your idea to a Callie.
It is illegal. New authors are such easy prey.
You dont even know how many people are playing the part of this Callie.
Take yourself out of this internet group, its completely criminal, and they know it.
Youre being taken for a ride. One of these days, youll be served to appear at court in a lawsuit involving callie(s).
When will you learn.
That girl's got more trials, tribulations, and afflictions than a Victorian heroine. It's a miracle she's got the time and energy to put on her makeup. How dare all these mean authors demand she keep her word??? 🤪🤪🤪🤪
Adding to say, supposing all this poor-me is true, she shouldn't commit to contracts she can't fulfill.
Before the time of "influencers" we read books or used other products, if we liked them, we gave them publicity either through word of mouth, posts of FB or even MySpace (yes I am that old). In this current world, we have a "gimme" society where people want stuff for free. People no longer want to work for what they want. It sickens me that newer authors and indie authors are being taken advantage of. Not only authors but budding artists or new entrepreneurs trying to start a business. How did we get here? How did we become this society where "influencers" expect free stuff. Authors, please use an arc team. Stop paying these creeps for reviews. Trust the real book nerds to gives reviews your hard work if they like it.
ОтветитьI started a novel 18 years ago. Still haven't finished it, and even though I intend to self publish, I have no idea where tf I'll go from there when the time comes. But thank you for covering this. I don't have tiktok and had no clue this type of scam existed.
ОтветитьIt's almost like booktok in general sucks and attracts sucky people
ОтветитьThe only nice thing about being sick is how much time I have to read sooooo...that excuse is kind of funny.
ОтветитьWhy wouldn't they just create a five minute video about the book they promised to promote? I hate scammers...
ОтветитьNot related to the contents of the video at all but i just open the video and when i saw you the first think that came to mind was “wait isn’t she the one making the granny vhagar videos on tiktok???”
ОтветитьOne of the reasons these scammers tease you along for 3 months is because most credit card companies won't let you file a complaint/get your money back after 90 days. Been there, done that, can tell you horror stories about a "consultant/promoter" who did this to me, a hybrid author, and ended up stealing $1.4k from me for nothing. But we live and we learn and we share the warnings with others to help other authors the best we can...
ОтветитьAlways have them sign a contract or "influencer agreement" with form deliverables and dates
ОтветитьShe does not love reading. 😅😂 Clearly. Tiktok has made reading performative which is so strange.
ОтветитьCompletely off topic but the guy in the blue hat could be an amazing ventriloquist! I’ve never seen anyone speak so clearly while moving their mouth so little. Very impressive!
ОтветитьSo you never met dark triad tyle of people in real life? They are one and the same. The narcissists, the manipulators, the liars, the machiavelians. No guilt, no remorse, no shame.
ОтветитьI don't even understand. All she have to do was make a video and yet the girl couldn't even do that. She was already in a scandal, with the whole Wishlist thing. You would think she was going to chill out then. What make she think these authors wouldn't called her out?! It people money and time. Truly mindblown tbh
ОтветитьThe thing is, if she was trying to be genuinely helpful, she would let people know in advance of delays and anything that would make her unable to complete her end of the deal. And if stuff came up suddenly she would be easily reachable and give refunds when asked!
Ответитьthis girl is soooo entitled wtf 😭 pure tiktok brainrot
ОтветитьI am so upset she would be doing this. Imagine being paid to read and you do this.
Ответитьits overcharging because she isnt doing what she promised. thats the issue. the issue is not the money. the issue is her not doing the thing she is reaching out to people about. yk the very thing she introduces herself with...
ОтветитьThe best show of a scammer is someone saying you say the budget and not asking for a specific price I have experience when I had my commissions open the scammers on Instagram dms would be like oh name your price despite having specific commission prices
ОтветитьThis is really a perfect example that not everyone who has a following is trustworthy or deserves it. Im so confused by this too... she's getting payed by the author but she would stand to make more actually posting the videos like she agreed to. She makes money off her content and without those authors there is no content.
ОтветитьIts especially stupid cause it's not even like its hard to make a tiktok about a book thats bare minimum effort what a lazy bitch
ОтветитьLove your style!
ОтветитьNotice how she’s preying on older authors who might not have a social media presence. It so embarrassing to claim to be someone who reads when you can’t even read books you’ve been paid hundreds of dollars to read…
ОтветитьAre there any big updates to this
Ответить
