"If your classmate can score straight A's, why can't you?"
Sorry, the logic in this video might seem helpful but doesn't work if you're raised by tiger moms who want perfection at every turn.
There is however a level of learning how to cope with it though. Lots of people use mental disabilities as an excuse. It's similar to showing up late to work everyday. If youre late 10 min every single day because of traffic you should probably leave 10min sooner rather than just blame the traffic and do the same thing youve been doing.
Ответитьoh my god
ОтветитьThank you…
ОтветитьI gaslit myself into not having Tourette's.
ОтветитьThis is a real pet peeve of mine, especially when it comes to social anxiety/ anxiety in general. I know people mean well when they say stuff like “don’t worry, people won’t care if you say something stupid anyway,” but it frustrates me to no end because I’ve known this for years and my anxiety has not disappeared, surprisingly enough
ОтветитьAutist and adhd here. Not completely but it sure makes things billion times easier.
Pain/issue appears > analyse it and understand it > what are the causes and effects > how can i effect those causes and effects > fix the issue or make the issue more manageable > issue is either fixed/healed, more manageable or the progress is ongoing.
Pointless overthinking doesnt help, understanding an issue, heath problem, pain, or even a broken ankle is the first step you take you heal / fix it
That rally made me feel better atm , thx
Ответитьdamn. i needed this.
ОтветитьI agree but don’t let these issues define who you are there are ways to improve your mental health like exercise, sleeping better and eating better. Don’t give up!
Ответитьsimilar to the ankle thing, i feel personally that knowing all there is to know about it can make it worse. like with a broken ankle, knowing that this broken bone may never heal properly just makes the situation feel worse.
ОтветитьThe thing is I don't know why I'm struggling I just am😭
ОтветитьOh. You didn't have to call me out.
ОтветитьWell you can do things with this knowledge to make the physical pain less painful.
ОтветитьI sorta disagree about pain. If I know what to expect it’s easier to endure. But I have chronic illness with chronic pain so I have to catalog and compartmentalize or I won’t make it out of bed.
ОтветитьYT is telling me to search "how to feel more motivated"
ОтветитьThats why you shouldnt think! Empty mind is a blessed mind or somethinglike that
ОтветитьYes but there are actual treatments to help with both a broken ankle, and ADHD etc. You put a cast on an ankle
ОтветитьThat being said knowing what is the issue makes it a lot easier to cope with it. If your ankle is broken you can put less weight on it, get a cast and crutches or boot. You still have a broken ankle but it hurts a lot less and is a lot easier to get around.
ОтветитьNow if only we could get literally any employer to understand this
ОтветитьExcept you 100% can think your way out of feeling though. I mean pain is not only relativistic with two people with the same injury often having extremely different pain levels due to past experience/tolerance but the placebo effect is a very real thing. This doesn’t even mention that many psychological illnesses and often depression are actually caused primarily by perception and can in fact be helped by changing your outlook on life. Not saying it’s not hard to deal with these kind of issues but saying you can’t do anything about them if just as bad and pushes people to accept their circumstances.
ОтветитьPlease don’t justify my procrastination…
ОтветитьThank you so much for this!
ОтветитьI didn’t know I needed to hear this…
ОтветитьI can
ОтветитьWhen i was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, someone asked me "but doesn't it feel better having an answer?" Like, not really lol it doesn't really change anything, does it?
ОтветитьAs a person with autism, 80hd, and other diagnosis, I am infact able to think my way out of feeling
ОтветитьHowever it is on you if the path to recovery is physical therapy and you don’t try the physical therapy
ОтветитьYou think i can't? try me
ОтветитьKnowing a problem is one thing
FIXING IT is a whole other issue
True, but I know if I pushed harder, I can do it.
ОтветитьI may not be able to think my way out of feeling but I sure as hell can build a wall (don’t do this guys it leads to apathy and you’re still clinically depressed)
ОтветитьWell... Im crying my eye balls out
ОтветитьI have explained many times to people how small mistakes or comments can cause me to eventually spiral easily if repeated enough or said at the wrong time. I am well aware that spiraling is utter bs. I am well aware that the universe does not hate me and that realistically my existence has no negative bearing on how the world plays out. Does that mean I can just tell myself "You're fine"? Nope! Believe it or not, I'm not in control of my emotions when I spiral! I know it isn't rational! That doesn't change the fact I feel like a burden and a waste of space at the moment! I know its nonsense! And yet... I still spiral.
ОтветитьOk cool. Now explain that everyone around me lol
ОтветитьYes this applies to everyone..except me, I am an irredeemable lazy POS who should stop complaining and get going
ОтветитьNow please make the OTHER people understand this that think a walk and smiling more is going to fix chronic depression of 15 years
ОтветитьYou can technically think your way out of pain as well as those other things but it doesn't mean it's healthy to do so.
Ответитьi have ODD so to apply the princeable here just to play devils advocate: you can somewhat think your way out of pain by changing interpretation, hence why doctors say just a little pressure because it can minimize the pain, however this does not make it go away fully so not discounting the message only part of the premise
Ответитьwatch me
ОтветитьYou fool, I can simply gaslight myself into believing I do not feel anything and therefore become immune to damage
ОтветитьDamn, i want but i cant refute this
Dont force me to confront reality again please😊
great message! also not where i thought it was going, so i'll write what i thought the first paragraph was leading to:
even though you know everything about the pain - what causes it, how to heal it, how long it lasts on average, the recovery rate, all of it - you will only be able to feel the pain if you experience it yourself. homelessness, incarceration, the incarceration of a loved one, addiction, war - you can read about and intellectually understand these things very well, maybe even the best that anyone ever has, but you still don't know how it feels unless you yourself are immersed in it. intellectually understanding is good and helpful and necessary and encourages sympathy, but people who have experienced it can relate to others who also have in a way that can't be achieved with someone who's only read about it.
Of course, being able to explain why I'm struggling to a manager doesn't mean they will care, empathize, or even believe me. It also doesn't mean that complaints to HR will go anywhere. Discrimination is discrimination, but proving it legally in another thing.
I can clearly articulate what my problem areas are, why those are my problem areas, and how I work around my problem areas, and my manager is still going to look me dead in the eye and tell me I'm making excuses.
But I'M the bad guy for setting his dog on fire.
Thank you...Legit started crying, I really needed this rn
ОтветитьI actually managed to quote on quote out-think pain a dozen times in my life though. Sometimes curiosity gets the best of me and I’d just take the pain but enjoy the results anyway 😅
ОтветитьThe neurodiversity paradigm.
ОтветитьJeez, I needed this today. I got diagnosed at age 30 with ADHD and depression. For decades I couldn’t figure out why things that were so easy for others were so hard for me. After I got diagnosed I thought “great! Now that I know what’s going on, I know what I need to do to get better”
And I’ve been struggling so hard because even though I take the pills, and do the therapy - it’s still not perfect. I can’t THINK my way into being perfect.
I couldn't stop the pain, but I could still fight the discomfort to do things, despite the pain.
ОтветитьMe when i tried to outwill my autism
