What is the song?
ОтветитьWearing his Terry Haste suit……from Kent, Haste and Lachter….looks fabulous
ОтветитьGo visit Brompton bicycle!
ОтветитьGreat video!
ОтветитьI’ve become a big fan of The Rake. This is the type of video that fascinates me and shows off the pride ppl have in their work. Well done.
ОтветитьThese people are true artists and your respect for their art and craft is second to none.
ОтветитьThe craftsmanship and artisan nature of the bespoke weapons justify the price. World class. Exquisite is not generally a word that comes to mind when it comes to guns.
ОтветитьIt's a good laugh watching you interact with normal people who have skills/vocations! You're like an alien visiting another planet here.
ОтветитьBrilliant video on a magnificent piece of art. Well done!
ОтветитьAmazing craftsmanship
ОтветитьHigh quality blammo.
ОтветитьNo promo video! Will probably appear after this one!
ОтветитьThis is the best Ted and Ralph the fast show in real life I have ever seen!! “Er hello commoner what do you do” tragic!
ОтветитьSo many makers, hard to decide which one to go with. There all gorgeous!
ОтветитьBest gun for shooting peasants - er, I mean pheasants!
ОтветитьHolland & Holland next.
ОтветитьA brace of Purdeys, my boy!
Ответить🇬🇧🫡
ОтветитьWonderful video, I did notice though the hacksaw hanging on the wall at Tom's finishing bench. Was that from when Ronnie Biggs ordered his gun?
ОтветитьWhat an absolutely wonderful start to the series. Tom, you did a fantastic job chatting to the artisans, and it showed that you had done your homework/had experience of what you were talking about. The Terry Haste suit looked magnificent. It was good to see you chatting to Jerry Riley, who had been featured in The Rake Issue 93. If the rest of the series is as good as this episode, I am going to be a very happy man.
ОтветитьFantastic episode, throughly enjoyable, great to see the craftsmanship involved. Just need to win the lottery so I can place an order 😂
ОтветитьBritish Brands? Like Betraying 41 Million Canadians?
ОтветитьWow! What incredible fire arms. Definitely a rich man’s kind of item. Thanks 🎸🔪
ОтветитьNo brown in town ☹️
ОтветитьReminds me of Alec Steele's video saEDMMmMp2o but quiet a different video style.
ОтветитьWhat a ponce !
ОтветитьI love quality, but I feel like such a peasant after watching this!
ОтветитьBrilliant insight into the making of a Purdey bespoke shotgun. Good to see how you interacted with the craftsmen. Another super video. Cheers
ОтветитьAll working class fellas that make these guns but Ponces that buy them
ОтветитьI hope to Dege and Skinner on here soon :)
ОтветитьThe artisanship takes my breath away, and the company has been doing it for 210 years during which their guns actually shaped history!
ОтветитьI absolutely enjoy Tom's series' as insights into Britain's prestige manufacturing, however I find the camera direction, particularly on this Purdy's feature, to fail to show the work products you are actually talking about.
ОтветитьLongthorne make the best barrels for shotguns. A 100% english firm. Their process is protected by numerous patents, so no other Gunmaker can copy them.
ОтветитьJeez i dont think i have enough money to watch this video wearing a three piece suit to go on a factory visit 😂
ОтветитьThe great thing is that an artisan made side-by-side gun by one of the Best London makers a century ago is - if correctly cared for by it's owners - still have a lifetime of shooting left in it. The sad thing is (that thanks to the non-toxic shot legislation) those guns , and especially Boxlocks, are now worth a mere pittance.
ОтветитьMakes you proud to be British!!
Ответить“It’s where you started and you’re still doing it 40 years later’….tell me you’re condescending without telling me you’re condescending….
ОтветитьAbsolutely fantastic insight into a highly skilled and wonderful company.
Brilliant presentation, thank you
I always visit Purdey when in London, it's quite an institution...and there's a great pub just across the road.
ОтветитьForgot to say, very interesting film about the Purdey factory and their world-beating craftsmen - if only i could afford one!
ОтветитьNot particularly impressed with the so called craftsmen / artisans who could hardly string two words together to explain what they were doing. the video clearly demonstrated that the majority of them had no idea of the processes involved and didn ot how to use a file properly. there are much better videos showing the processes required in constructing guns especially with regard to the regulation and connection of barrels. this is a joke. BTW liked the suit.
ОтветитьI'll take two, please.
ОтветитьComo siempre NO ENTIENDO NADA. YA SE LO DIJE 1.000.000. DE VECES. PERO SI CONOSCO LA MARCA. HOY TODAS LAS EMPRESAS DE RENOMBRE HACEL LO MISMO PARA TENER CALIDAD.
ОтветитьWhilst Purdey, along with the other members of the big 4 H&H Woodward and Boss did make shotguns of exceptional quality, they traded a lot on their fashionable names throughout the elite sportsmen of London.
When it comes to "best quality ' with most of the London makers, you can barely fit a fag paper between a best Blanch, Atkin, Evans, Grant or even a Charles Boswell.
Purdey is like Rolls Royce, percieved as the ultimate in quality and status for those who like to make it known.
Those in the know and with a quiet decerning eye would choose a John Blanch, Stephen Grant, John Dickson et all.
Please use the correct term, Circassian walnut.... yes, its Turkish, but please use the correct nomenclature :)
ОтветитьThe British government cannot wait to close down all gun making in all its forms. They've been closing the net ever more after Hungerford and Dunblane.
With the absence of the 2nd Amendment and any top level support, the sport will be doomed within a few generations.
Fish out of water comes to mind.
ОтветитьTom might be the softest human alive. His hands have never touched anything rough and he has never worked a hard day in his life. The quintessential Englishman, weak, and entirely incapable of survival if not waited on.
