If an appt complex gives you any "just make sure you don't do this" comments during walkthroughs, they are going to be HELL to deal with. If they are that blunt with you during walkthroughs, they will be hiding much more. Even as someone who literally doesn't do ANYTHING wrong in life (i think), i've dealt with an appt that will tow your car unexpectedly because of a flat tire (apparently it isn't drivable and thus worth towing, and I had no clue it had gone flat due to a nail). I should have known this was an issue when I got some warnings during walk throughs about parking over the line and other small offenses I didn't think would apply to me. HOWEVER, if you want motivation to one day be a homeowner, these experiences definitely did it for me! Other than that, I would recommend moving on the first floor, as grocery hauls and move in / move out become easier.

Texas is very affordable and theres no income tax! so all the money you guys are making online won't be taxed. That alone is one of the major reasons people are heading to Texas. I just wouldn't sign a long term lease if youre unsure if you want to stay there for a few years.
