as a mbuna fan i can only admine what a beautiful specimen. i allways liked hongi's ! more like this on mbunas! :)

I have a breeding pair of these and I love them.... Beautiful fish with great personality....

They are...great staple african. Love to get my hands on some super reds :)

Thank you...actually not an SRT but probably was the variety that started the lines. I have a video of this guy from a couple years ago when he was small...been feeding him lots of Omega pellets that have really enhanced his orange. I want some SRT's bad lol.

I have a nicely coloured male hongi and recently purchased 2 females 1 small juvie and a larger female...my boy has shown absolutely no interest in either of them.my larger female acts more like a male but is female colouring......actually most of the mbuna females in the tank act more male than he does - more aggressive, posturing etc...he just swims around looking for food....so frustrating...I want babies.

is the male/female always that color? I've been able to find a TON of females, but I'm having a hard time finding a male.

A long time ago I came across the hybrid offspring of one of these and an electric yellow. It was a very impressive fish. I know hybrids are supposedly bad for the hobby but it was one of the most beautiful fish I have ever owned.

That seizure like behavior at the end, can somebody explain to me what that is? My largest and most dominate fish (yellow lab) does that every now and then for a couple seconds...
