How to Turn Off Read Receipts on Android | Turn On Read Receipts

I followed your instructions on my Galaxy Note 10 plus and I don't have chat settings. I looked everywhere and cannot find the setting to turn my read receipts on or off for my text messages. Oddly enough when I first got the phone I swear I seen that option somewhere but I've looked nearly everywhere and can't find it again and it's important that I do. I'm thinking I must be remembering having seen that setting on one of my older phones. Any other ideas?

This doesnt work on S21. I still have it marked as read receipts off and the messages are still showing as read

So my messages turn green when I text from an iPhone to an Android will it still be reading?

" CHAT SETTINGS" SECTION, And TOGGLE OFF
" READ RECEIPTS"

OR ELSE YOUR MESSAGES WILL STILL KEEP SHOWING UP AS "READ MESSAGE" EVERY TIME YOU READ YOUR MESSAGES.

OTHERWISE YOU HAVE NO PRIVACY TO READ YOUR MESSAGES.

. THERE'S TWO DIFFERENT PLACES TO TOGGLE OFF THE READ RECEIPTS, IF YOU DON'T ALSO TOGGLE OFF THE OPTION UNDER THE "CHAT" SECTION, YOUR MESSAGES WILL STILL ALERT PEOPLE THAT YOU HAVE READ THEIR MESSAGE.

I ABSOLUTELY HATE THAT FEATURE, BECAUSE I WANT TO ANSWER PEOPLE WHEN I FEEL UP TO IT.

I'M BUSY AND SOMETIMES TIRED AND DO NOT HAVE ENERGY TO ANSWER PEOPLE UNTIL I'M READY TO.

This pisses me off, who the hell needs people to know that I read their message? And then they bury the ability to turn it off somewhere in the phone, which I can't still find. FUCK THEM!

Yo, you can just open your message app, then go to the top three bars in the right corner and click it. Select settings, and chat settings are right there..

how many of you are a crazy stalker and need to find out if your crush read your message so your here trying to find out if they read your message???

I don't have chat settings on my message app or from the message chat itself. Any idea how to turn it on to enable read messages?

It doesn't work all it does is send you to the Rss messages that are sent through the Internet which is no good because that person has to be on the internet to receive them. Not everybody will ge on the internet so this is no good.

Had to click on the actual message icon and then I went to my profile and clicked on RCS chats and went from there. Although it might be Android a different make and model of the phone seems they have their own version of dealing with this.
