ОтветитьIt's still kinda expensive, 38k for the BYD dolphin in Australia, and similar for the MG 4, but the MG has better performance. But if you factor in savings in petrol and maintenance on an ICE, you'd recoup like 10k in 10 years.
I'm holding out until they get cheaper, or pick up a second hand EV many years later.
China is a socialist country, accessibility to goods for all citizens above all. China will certainly not change the political systems in the World but il will certainly change the nature of economy

ОтветитьSince BYD have multiple sources of income from batteries to electic busses to trains etc... they can afford to do aggressive discounts to gain more and more market share. I heard BYD owns over 70% of their supply chains so, its obvious they wont be losing as much money as legacy auto-makers doing the same
ОтветитьBYD Thailand saga. Unhappy Buyers made an official complained to the Thailand Consumer tribunal. Tribunal made an investigation into matter. Tribunal found that there was NO CASE against BYD. Their Local Partner's Sales people made "Un true statements to push SALES ". BYD as a form of Good Will gave free Charging Credits to those affected.

ОтветитьLooks like when I have said over and over that China uses slave labor, it turns out it is true. If you only read the formation document to china you would read it uses slave labor. They don't hide it at all. To say they don't use slaves is to simply lie.
China will burn itself to the ground shortly. Though all banking is slavery and the usa and every country is under slavery 100%, China has the worst slavery of all.

ОтветитьBYD are just doing good business. I remember run out model end of year sales with many legacy brands on ICE vehicles. I think it is great, especially if it helps a new Customer get into their first affordable new EV. Every day I drive my now 18 months BYD Atto 3, it still feels like I have just picked it up. ОтветитьCarsales in china has dipped every year in dec-feb. It's strange for a westener but it has something to do with the chinese new year.
Probably will this year to. My guess is that they are trying to fight this dip and hopefully spread out sales?
This is one thing I don't like about BYD. It is discounting too much, which is destroying the resale value of the cars (except if the car owner can use the same car/EV for 20+ years then the 20+ years car's resale value is usually very low).
ОтветитьTHis isn't about "legacy" auto BYD is one' they've been in operation for 20 years making ICE and Junk electric trash that catch fire so frequently 10 of their dealerships burnt to the ground. What BYD is doing is cutting every cost; even using slave labor in Brazil trying to stay alive with CCP having subsidised 100 near brands that are all selling below cost to try and survive in a horrible race to the bottom. Few Chinese 100% BEV makes will survive this; as China is not likely to afford more subsidies to try and keep them all going. Most of these new makes will be in the trash bin inside of 2025.

ОтветитьI live in South East Asia. I am planning to buy a BYD EV but the salesman advised me to wait until February 2025, because he said there might be a discount on BYD EVs. Now this channel is saying basically the same thing. I think I would wait until at least the end of January 2025 before getting the EV.
