I spent about a year there. Adore it.
ОтветитьIt's a little weird to see the place I live being describe as so fascinating, but it's also nice to see it through an outsider's eyes. Just so you know, Anchorage is the largest city in Alaska - but Juneau is our capitol.
ОтветитьI have a good friend who is a firefighter in Alaska for 6 months out of the year. He does pretty well for himself and loves what he does.
Ответить😢 I just tuned in and heard you claim, Anchorage is Alaska's Capitol Actually, Juneau is Alaska's Capitol!
ОтветитьHave a dream to sail there some day. I even already made an art painting over Aleutian paper chart.
ОтветитьI lived there in 97 and it is truly a magical place. It's brutal, beautiful and unforgiving. Great job showing the world this amazing place!
ОтветитьMy grandma was from Unalaska/Dutch but I'm further West Atka and my other grandma was from Attu
ОтветитьWhat a very beautiful presentation.. so amazing!
ОтветитьSpent a lot of yrs in and out of Dutch Harbor
ОтветитьTry Adak next time.. or King Cove .. or Cold Bay
ОтветитьLauren has his mind right. I don't know him, but I get him. He seemed to me the kind of guy that every man should strive to become... no matter their actual environment. I tip my hat.
ОтветитьI wonder how many times the guy said "like" over and over and over again?😂
ОтветитьI have question. is Mobile internet available in Dutch Harbor???
ОтветитьI went grew up here went to high school here worked here I miss my home wish I never left 😢
ОтветитьJust FYI - Anchorage is not the capital of Alaska That would be Juneau,
ОтветитьAnchorage is not the capitol; Juneau was and still is today 😎
ОтветитьYou mention the First Nations 8,000 yers living and no more ! suddenly disapperared
ОтветитьBeautiful video Eva..that part of Alaska, looks alot like New Zealand..I lived in Soldotna for about 9 yrs..with family..which made it so much easier..Winters can become very long..especially contending with the darkness..but then on occasions, you get to see the northern lights..Im sure they have them at Dutch Harbor..thx for the memories this video brought back for me, Cheers 😅😊
ОтветитьYou should try to get permission to spend a week based at "Navy Town" on Attu. If not, then a week on Shemya (Earickson Air Force Station). Both would be a history lesson.
ОтветитьGo west to Shemya, spent a year there, compliments of Uncle Sam
ОтветитьSo magnificent and beautiful and peaceful.... Just for a day. then I would feel like the smallest minute object on earth... Back to civilization. OK.
ОтветитьYou are really very boring not worth my time bye, UR bloxked
ОтветитьThank you for your very interesting videos. Some of those people living in those distant, quiet, and serene areas surely are seekers to find that one true God. Many search their way, to find that peace, not really knowing Jehovah the only true God of peace is only a breath away. If we search for him, he will allow himself to be found. (1 Chronicles 28:9)
ОтветитьIncredible! It looks like Norway/Scotland put together!
ОтветитьNo make-up...no pretense. That's a lovely and interesting woman. Edit: I did leave out the beauty of Alaska....honest mistake?
ОтветитьTry port wing wis
ОтветитьLoreen was very informative and so were all the others. Thank you for sharing the adventure. I’d been contemplating the outer Hebrides for a summer get away. This seems more feasible.
ОтветитьSuch a small world! I moved to Dutch Harbor a week or so right before this was filmed. It is truly a wonderful community
ОтветитьSafeway store has two varieties of pierogy in in the frozen food section.
ОтветитьThis is what I told a couple of seafood processing plant workers from Poland that l met in the store. They were thrilled.
ОтветитьDutch i weird, most people hate it but miss it when they leave
ОтветитьI spent most of my life upthere... I hope I can come back one day before I die...
ОтветитьWonderful video 😊 you could have your video on tv for sure thank you
ОтветитьMy son is there crabbing right now. Ive always wanted to visit to see where he spends 75% of his life. It is a fascinating and grueling and dangerous occupation. I honestly dont know how he amd all the other fisherman do it.
ОтветитьDose that Ford make you miss your Rover 😆
ОтветитьJust got off the boat in Dutch Harbor.. what an experience, not for the weak
ОтветитьBeautiful lady , Juneau is the capital of Alaska! I love you!
ОтветитьI skipped A and B seasons of pollock bi- catch sorting in 2023, 12 seasons of salmon in Alsska and 5 of pollock in Dutch. I already found a Japanese glass ball with its net right next to Dutch Harbor target range while beach exploring with some scrap copper wiring for craft work. I also bumped into Cig Hansen of the North Westeren from the show Deadly catch after he got famous. It's amazing place for its nature and history. Thr Alution island is were the cradle of storms are to ancient first peoples. I was put up in Hotel for 12 days in Anchorage before my flight to Dutch in the winter time. Sposedly they found old multi ton ancorer from around the 1860 or 70 's with chain stuck on the side of a cargo ship coming into Dutch around 2022, and still had the wood to ancorer persevered. I read they re-sunk it in the sea to keep it preserved before treating it, and having a place in Dutch to display it, it be wonderful if the report is true ?
ОтветитьI would love to experience Alaska. It's always fascinated me. All I keep thinking is "poor fish..." Would love to experience those wild waters. Just once. LOl
ОтветитьWOW! Your video is like a true documentary. Well done !!!! Very proud of you as your video making processes have truly advanced over the years. Followed you for about a year now and I can't wait for your next video. I'm from Europe as well - so a hello from a fellow neighbor. Love your content and keep up the GREAT work. Thank you again for your gentle approach to touring the world. ;-)
ОтветитьWhere was Vilk during this trip....
ОтветитьMy one of dads best friends was a high school history teacher in Dutch for 25 years, he moved to Nevada a few years ago after he retired. My oh my though he has some great stories and cool finds. Ironically, I just found your channel and this is the second video I clicked on without even reading the title but he is actually visiting and staying at our house right now!
Edit: I showed him the video and he was recognizing people haha even the golden retriever!
You make great videos and I love watching them. However, some of your information isn't accurate. Unalaska may be remote by many peoples standards outside of Alaska but it has the largest population and the most amenities of any of the islands and the most easily accessed. Unalaska has ferry service, barge service, multiple flights a day. And as you show, many people, many businesses, a large supermarket and lots of other infrastructure etc. There are about 9 miles of paved road but an additional 32 miles of gravel roads and Unalaska is 800 milles from Anchorage. There are many other communities in the Aleutians that are more remote than Unalaska with smaller populations less infrastructure more difficult to get to etc. Try Akutan (80), NelsonLagoon (55), False Pass (65), Cold Bay (40), Atka (53) the most isolated village on the Aleutian chain and 1100 miles from Anchorage, Adak (30) 1200 miles from Anchorage, only 2 flights a week, no grocery store.
ОтветитьLol im from alaska... they say 250 days of rain a year down there, but its because it snows the other 100 days lol!
ОтветитьI like walking in the mountains - 400 meters up, but not too high. Sleeping in a car has its own atmosphere. Greetings from Poland
ОтветитьGO TRUMP!
ОтветитьWonderful documentary on the remote Aleutian Islands. Thanks.
