25 Best Places to Sleep When Living in Your Car!

Great list. I road trip and am always looking for new places to over night.
A note about Truck stops. They will run you out if they notice you are there for more than 1 or 2 nights. Then watch for your vehicle.

Finally got a handle..set in payed spots. Arrangements made for a pittance.. (trade for labor).pick up trash..ect.. I rent a storage room and have a tiny shop make a few dollars. Store my food..Night sleep not allowed. On storage areas. Though that's the pay deal cops not called..😊😊

I have been homeless before and always face homelessness to where I think the next relocating plan will be homelessness

Between my medical conditions and the economy
It’s more logical for me to be homeless than to find a rental and keep full filing unreasonable requirements that won’t even allow me to survive let alone lone live

This info should be taught in High Schools all across the USA!

Unfortunately none of these places are legal in Maricopa county, Arizona. One it's illegal to be homeless. And two, it's illegal to sleep in ANY vehicles, including cameras or motorhomes. Federal BLM land is the only legal option in Arizona.

I have a storage for my things. The manager has an apartment on site and she allows me to park there. I’m really appreciative of that.

You should not have to sleep in your car if we can house illegals, feed them , give them healthcare , schools and spending money we can at least help people afford a roof over their heads.

I’ve never had any issues parking at Interstate Rest Stops. Also Planet Fitness; you’re just waiting for them to open. I highly recommend a Black Card; Shower Nationwide.

Theres public resource maps for BLM land, if you choose to camp on it you usually have to be 200ft from a road and pull a permit for free on the DNR website, it varies by state

As a devout Catholic, I was shocked when I asked 3 separate churches for safety to park in their lot as a woman 57 yrs old a Mikitary Vetetan with showing my ID, and was told No
OMG !!! Don't ask churches in Illinois . If your going to be a representative of the Greatest Humanitarian in history you should probably have some heart and humanity. Stunned. I've never attended or donated again. I guess their God is green and his name is greed. That one will shock me forever. The most disturbing part is this will turn some pple against God. Hint? If insecure about it, ask the dealer or repair shop for an early morning oil change and permission to leave the car overnight.
You can't do it every night, but it works in a pinch.

Denny’s is one too. Always open 24 hours, food and bathroom.

Some churches do. But you have to talk to them. They work closely with the cops and know why certain cars are there. Just be careful and stay safe. The gov officials need to do something to help people who have jobs but can’t afford 1500 rent + utilities for the lower end of the middle class that don’t qualify for food or medical help.

Huge fan of emergency room parking lots!!! Got the idea when I got food poisoning on a road trip and needed a safe place to sleep with access to a bathroom.

I found an awesome spot that's not on this list, once a cop pulled up on me and ran my license plate and left and once there was some kids hanging out at it but other than that slept there for months almost daily and never bothered.

Grocery stores almost always have a night crew. Park by the employees and you're good 👍

Walmart is getting better about allowing camping again, as they've realized the people sleeping there spend money at Walmart as well.

I let people sleep on a couch at a Salvation Army thst was outside in Florida All I said was You need to be gone around 630 am

Alot of hotels require parkimg passes or you get towed. Look for posted signs about towing.

I may do this in 4 months as I'm going to enter a training program in Chicago.
My family says that living in the car is for the homeless or makes me look bad. But honestly I feel like I'd enjoy that life, yeah maybe I'd have to adjust but I've seen people do it just for the fun of it or to travel or because well as we all know things are getting expensive.
