Joy , Mae West and Jackie Kennedy’s favourite perfume

I live in Eastern Europe so...my history class was always about fighting the Otoman Empire :)) Before them...The Roman Empire and after The Russian one (busy region, now...Ukraine). We were never told a yatagan was a short blade. It's main characteristic was that is was a curve blade and that it has something to do with the blade being perfectly balanced by this form. Maybe the perfume follows this story. Or is trying to :)

I would say end 90s for the green dot symbol, the EU legislation was 94 but that takes minimum 2 years to be implemented

Joy - what on earth was Dior thinking in getting rid of the sublime Jean Patou Joy. And all for their own deeply unpleasant version that no-one was interested in.
I have a bottle of the real Joy and I treasure it. It is truly beautiful. I hope Dior is ashamed, they certainly ought to be.

Yatagan and Joy, oh the glory. So pleased for you they turn out to be pristine. When I purchased a vintage edt of Joy about nine years ago, the seller included a full little black and red cap with gold thread bottle of Joy extrait as a freebie. That was such a nice gesture, I think of that seller every time I wear Joy.

My Caron discovery set was delivered 2weeks ago and to be honest all the fragrance (including the new releas3 oud excelsa)were underwhelming,felt watered down ☹

I wish I could smell your version of yatagan.

I spit out laughing at your first sentence about Yatagan, because it’s exactly what I said in my head when I saw the title: Yatagan is a funny one. 😅
it’s a unique creation. I distinctly remember a few swinging dads who wore this in the 80s and I didn’t smell it again until around 5 years ago. It smacked me in my memory banks! 😂 I wish I could get a decant of the old stuff.

So sad I missed this one!! I had a bottle of Joy De Jean Patou from the 50's that was my mom's. What an absolutely perfect fragrance!! :) I've seen some vintage bottles of EDT online and after watching I just might take a risk and purchase one. :)

Excellent take on vintage Yatagan. It's probably the main reason I never picked up the modern stuff. Can't deny a tinge of envy watching you sniff Joy though. 😄😭 Sounds mmmarvellous.

Joy has always been until today my preferred woman fragrance. When I was a kid I used to smell it. My big sister used to wear it too and Inused to buy her Joy when I travel just to have the chance to smell it.

Thank you for the reviews. I won’t buy anything by Dior because of them continuing to use a man found to have committed domestic violence by an English court as a spokesperson—truly astounding. Even if they hadn’t done that, I would boycott them anyway for discontinuing Joy. It’s not of the same gravity as supporting an abuser but I wore and loved the modern version of Joy for years and am very disappointed that it’s discontinued—I still have three bottles hoarded. The Dior perfume is shrill, sour, and boring. Dior won’t get a penny from me.

Joy turns to tragedy now. A titan that finally succumbed. It's very introspective 😢

So the modern version of Joy is a pass, you say?
