I feel like with the Abisola images, she also has a detail on her shoe that matches a color in her clothing that helps to tie it together. Like in the first image the shoes have a black rhinestone detail that matches the black of the outfit, and in the fourth her black shoes have a white rhinestone detail that matches the white detail in her skirt and sweater set.
ОтветитьI love straw and rattan, but I struggle to wear multiple pieces together, like a bag and shoes or a bag and hat. It is going overboard IMO.
ОтветитьPersonally I think black is very difficult to pair with other colors. I don’t have much black in my wardrobe, and that makes it easier for me to pull accessories to wear together. I mostly wear earth tone neutrals ranging from cream to brown, and I can wear just about any bag with any shoe from my wardrobe. If I add black into the mix, it complicates things.
ОтветитьI wonder whether there will be any video about your new year resolution from last year or you dropped it at all. It was quite inspiring way how to handle shooping behaviour.
ОтветитьIkr
ОтветитьI watched a color class podcast and keep in mind your eyes skin and hair are “accessories”
We are not blank canvas
Learning this about myself was very important because I have very dark hair and light to medium olive skin. No one will ever NOT notice how dark my hair, eyes and eyebrows are so I always need an element whether it’s a belt, a purse, an earring, necklace, or shoe I have to bring that darkness into my outfit. The hole is the sum of all the parts.
if you have red hair, it’s the equivalent of me with my black hair, wearing a reddish turban on my head every day.
Make something else in your outfit match the bag or the shoes.Easy.
ОтветитьYou are always good at inclusion, but I love that you highlighted a plus size model as someone inspiring. Often, I feel like they are included in pictures or just added in here or there, but you dissecting her outfits, and treating her as a model and fashionista is so amazing. Plus size doesn’t just need to be included, plus size can add just as much to the conversation as any other model.
ОтветитьWhere is outfit number 15 from? It's my favorite one
ОтветитьWhen you bargain shop, finding matching things is such a treat!
Ответитьbrilliant, thank you for this exporlation!
ОтветитьComing back to this video after it inspired me to attempt and nail an all-olive toned look today. Like many others in the comments, I don't have the type of wardrobe where matching shoes and bags can sustainably apply to me, but I still watch you parse out the rules with rapt fascination. 🤩
ОтветитьWhen I was growing up, my parents made fun of me for wearing brown/copper accessories when they didn't 'match' the rest of my outfit, and I was always like ''... but they match my hair??'' To me, it made sense. I'm literally always wearing certain colors (re: hair, eyes), and I'm part of the outfit.
ОтветитьYour hair keeps getting better! Love it even shorter and with the waves!!!
ОтветитьYour hair looks amazing! I love the texture and waves 😊
ОтветитьI’ve never had much need to match shoes and bag or accessories as I always carry a travel theft-resistant purse that’s sturdy. I wear mostly brown and black pants and shoes, usually match pants and shoes if possible, but not the end of the world if I don’t. Black is not in my color palette, but I’m wearing the pants I already have as they aren’t near my face because I spent money on them. On these outfits, they work because they seem to be in the same color family, and really I don’t care. I never wear scarves unless it gets very cold outside or I’m traveling up north in winter. I CANNOT change purses frequently as this is traumatic to me 😂 I do mix and match separates, and my shirt and pants match. Ideally, I match shoes/socks with pants, but that’s about as far as I go. Also I’m 60 so DGAF what others think 😂
ОтветитьI can’t wait to see a video of u putting together the outfits from the inspo in this video
ОтветитьAt least in the beginning, the shoes may not match the bag but in each example they perfectly matched th skirt etc... like the taupe shoes were so close to the color of the skirt and the brown bag completely matched her too.
ОтветитьThis reminds me of interior design mood boards done as clothing
ОтветитьLove this. But I'm quite confused by some of these outfits. The woman who is cold enough to wear gloves but doesn't have a jacket on—what kind of weather is she dressed for? Also the woman in butter yellow, on a grey, cloudy day—if it rains, she is going to get soaked to the skin. Also, in what weather is it warm enough for bare legs and slingbacks but cool enough to wear a heavy leather skirt?
ОтветитьThis video is making me wonder if I should START matching my bags to my shoes.. 🤔😅
ОтветитьHannah wear all blue with your orange bag… orange and blue beautifully compliment one another and shoes could be brown with a brown belt brown and blue look amazing together brown and orange look amazing together 😘
ОтветитьHave you considered using your hair or skin as a triangulation factor?
ОтветитьIt's funny cos in France it's considered pretty outdated to match your bag and your shoes! So I didn't see anything I wouldn't throughout the whole video yet I never noticed you were always matching your bag to your shoes! What I mean is great style is great style (which you have!). There are some rules but if you are elegant, you can break them and you still are elegant!
ОтветитьI know what you mean about adjusting your eyes to something you're not used to. Just wanted to say that I love your makeup! It's perfect. I love that your eyes are not overdone and that you aren't doing those ridiculous fake lashes that are so much in vogue nowadays. You are really unique and lovely.
ОтветитьIn many of these cases the unifying element is the model themselves. They matched at least one of their accessories to either their hair color or skin color or a variation on them. When you do this you keep your outfit simple and uncluttered. In your case use your auburn hair and green eyes or you can also use the various colors from your skin. Then you can add an accent color.
ОтветитьI prefer matching shoes with bottoms rather than with anything else: it looks so harmonious and alongating. And the bag can be whatever as long as it is goes with colour palette. In general I try not to break "3 colours per outfit max" rule, which imo is so comforting to the eye
ОтветитьMuch ado about nothing😂…..just kidding
ОтветитьHannah, I’m 67 and I only in the last couple of years started to match my purse and shoes. These “rules”, I believe, are optional. There are many parings that are beautiful together. Think of the color of clothes you wear in an outfit such as brown and cream or navy and black. If you like the colors in an outfit chances are you will like them as accessories, ie purse and shoes. Dont fret my dear, accessorize to your hearts desires.
ОтветитьNot a fashion expert but a graphic designer here. I’d like to offer you a simpler idea to verbalise it all! You know, if I haven’t ever heard about matching accessories rule (which obviously was relevant at some point with very different views on fashion and social contracts than today) I’d see it simply as a colour pallet applied to the whole look. Like you have idk 4 shades in different quantities (50 to 30 to 15 to 5 percent for example) and then you distribute those shades between ALL of the pieces in your outfit. If I was doing graphic design or creating a painting there would be no difference for me between the skirt and the shoes but what percentage of colour in that painting it could hold and where is it placed on your body in terms of composition. But WHY should your shoes match your bag or even your belt and not your bottoms if EVERYTHING is matching cohesively in the end anyway? Haha. So maybe that’s how they are doing it so beautifully. Hope this perspective helps!
ОтветитьAlso! Have you noticed that in outfit no.7 there’s a light chain to her bag AND a dark accent on her shoes? Pretty much the same proportion just reversed. I’m saying THEY MATCH! Hahaha
ОтветитьAlso also. Don’t you think that your hair colour and skin tone play some role in that whole colour distribution? Like in some outfits you’ve shown (all black outfit with a brown bag or the orange dress with black bag) their hair colour is matching their “stand alone“ item precisely (brown and black), and it takes a substantial part of the picture even if it’s not in the outfit itself per se.
ОтветитьHi Hannah, please do a video of you applying these rules to your own wardrobe! That’d be amazing 😁 love this content!
ОтветитьThey all avoid too much predictability and add some surprise element, hence keeping it interesting
ОтветитьWow, just chill n enjoy life! I am telling you, the end of da day...NON OF THESE will matter. 🤗❤️
If you overanalize other aspects of life to this extent....THAT must be exhausting. ( Im not being mean, truly, this just came to me watching.) You are smart , beautiful n healthy, thank God for that🤗❤️🫂. Love from Hungary. (I'm a gmama of 2.😘)
I love Linda Wright immaculate style and her knowledge of color and fabric in her outfits!! Icon....
ОтветитьCould you please make a video on lounge clothes, how to look neat and put together but also comfortable? Or maybe there is a video about it already?
ОтветитьMa’am, you need the Tibi color wheel.
ОтветитьI just wish the question of what to do with my accessories was my biggest problem in life. But I’m a guy, so when I need to distract myself from my real problems, there’s always the plight of my favorite sports teams to obsess about.
ОтветитьI love your new hairstyle!
ОтветитьHannah. Two things. One - I can’t believe you haven’t tried the “bag as the jewel” idea before! Whether it’s a chocolate brown against black, egg shell blue against tan or your suggestion of white against orange, you would look fabulous with this! You have great bags and great taste in bags. You will love it I’m sure. It’s one of my favorite tricks. The only potential problem is that one can get a little too shopping happy when one sees a divine bag that would be a great jewel. It doesn’t have to match anything in your wardrobe and so one can go on forever purchasing statement bags of sorts! You’re much more in control of yourself than me though so you probably won’t have that issue. 😊 Secondly, I’d love a video where you sort of show us how you Pinterest. Where do you find the images exactly? What search terms are you using? Do you follow particular people or designers? How do you categorize/label the images? Is just love to see you looking, what catches your eye and how you store it so that you come back to it (and not just lose it in the quagmire like I do 😢). Maybe it’s a silly question but I’d be curious. Either way, great video. Will watch your insta with great interest!
ОтветитьI just can't imagine switching my bag every time I switched my shoes! Purses get changed seasonally or swapped for a special event only.
ОтветитьThis was BRILLIANT I do try to matchup things like belt shoes and bag but the insight you’ve brought through this exploration is genius, it totally works and has changed my accessory thinking . Thank you Hannah 🤗
ОтветитьBlack shoes white bag is such a winner for me! I'm going to try that!
ОтветитьLots of people in the styling space don’t match anything. Definitely, the formulas for dressing are more complicated. Matching everything isn’t necessary but it sure makes things easier. I remember jeans and a cute top were a uniform that we all wore. Surely if you are consuming a lot, you have a lot of pieces to mix and match. I have actually been drawn to a matching suit or the cute top and jeans because the street fashion sometimes takes too much effort when I need to go.
ОтветитьYou are right on the money. I agree with you totally. That’s why it works because the bag is matching something; as long as the bag and shoes are matching something in the outfit they don’t have to match each other.
ОтветитьI think you should also consider hair and skin tone. My hair is very dark, so I consider that I already have something black going on on my outfit no matter what. I start putting a look together with that in my mind. Black is always there from the get go.
ОтветитьI don't feel that I need to match shoes with the bag. If bag matches my cloths shoes is an accessory of its own / or the other way around. I fell that 3 colors in overall outfit go well together, all in the same color/tone or pulling a fun color from an outfit to match the bag or the shoes. My motto is NOT to match shoes and bag. I like to be weird ;) Great content Hannah!
