As for Captaincy, Colwell, Palmer and Fofana, Caicedo and Enzo would be my picks - I think James will never be fit enough for long enough to take this role. He's also shown he's hot headed and impulsive as shown at the end of last year,

Colwell is not mature enough, still a kid and acts like a kid. Reece is never fit so not an option. Palmer number 1 as he polarises performance. Enzo definitely needs to focus on his game

Chelsea’s defensive unit is still shaky. We are not composed - meaning that the defensive unit had to coordinate their plays , instead of constantly passing backwards and putting an unnecessary burden on the GK .
With Palmer and Madueke in a constant‘groove’ knowing each other’s plays ; it’s just a matter of time for Sancho to join that groove. Nkunku , I believe has to learn to adapt; rather than just waiting for the ball to come to him .

This is why I always say you can't discard anyone I. This current squad because they are all going to be utilised in a no. Of positions. There is no set formation/system with Enzo Maresca. He will tweak styles and systems and pick players who suit what he wants to do against the team he faces next

Veiga in my opinion started shakily bt grew more and more into the game.

When Maresca said we have a great squad it is simply because 90%of players in this squad can play 2 or more positions in the game and that allows tactical flexibility and its hard for opposition managers to defend against us.

1. The captain SHOULD be ENGLISH
2. Cucurella or Chilwell should be LB
3. Gusto/James or Cucurella should be RB
4. Disasi and Badieshile should not be anywhere near the starting eleven
5. James should be backup centre half and backup midfielder (he wont need to run so much thus protecting his hamstrings)
6. Casiedo and Lavia should start when fit
7. I told you before the Bournemouth game, NKUNKU has to be our main striker

Cucu should get a shout for captain as well. Makes big plays leads by example, well liked buy his teammates and is fitting into Maresca’s inverted fullback role nicely - probably the most pivotal position right now. Man city had to change their strategy putting Doku on the left because he was shutting him down.

There are some facts after the first 6 games. One is that Mudryk has no place in this team and cannot play. He should be excluded from Carabao and FA cup games as well. Maybe can play for the conference league games. Second Jackson is better come from the bench as long as Nkoukou is fit. Their Palmer needs assistance from manager. All teams man marking him and pressing Palmer for 90 minutes. I believe Palmer must play higher up front. Fourth Dissasi should be sold asap and Fofana may have to be dropped. Finally have to get rid of Reece James that is causing more problems than providing assistance.

Reece James should be stripped of captaincy. He is always unavailable. Palmer is perfect.

The captain should have been Gallagher.

I personally don’t think English level is super important because as long as you can get your point across it’s fine. I think the bigger issue is just being able to dictate and command other players around you on the pitch and be a second mouthpiece for Maresca. I agree Colwill seems to be doing this well but I don’t think Enzo has been doing this poorly. I think that’s also a reason why I don’t see Palmer as captain material YET until he’s a bit older and is genuinely a leader in the dressing room. I never hear shouts of this but I would love to see Tomori back at the bridge after time out. He would be super commanding after getting experience in Europe and also be a great player to help colwill gain experience, but also he still has his best years ahead of him.

I'm still not fully on board with Fernandez, for £100m player I would expect more than 3 goals and 2 assists in nearly 50 games. I just don't think his passing or goal threat is worth the money we paid.
