I think I was supposed to have the angst in his music during my late teens and early twenties, but it didn't catch up to me until two divorces and my thirties. This music found me in the 1990s, but I can still listen to every track over and over. Stephan is such a brilliant song writer.
ОтветитьSelf titled is hands down one of the best albums. Well, at least to me, it hit that right spot. I can never tire of listening to it. Thank you, Rick and Stephan for this interview.
ОтветитьI disagree Rick, it's one of the best debuts of ALL-TIME!
ОтветитьIs there any story behind that gibson he picked up? Looks like its got some history.
ОтветитьLove this band, graduated in 98 and wore that album out! 😅
ОтветитьI never heard of Third Eye Blind until I was watching the Hulu series about Pam and Tommy that one scene where they give the studio to third eye blind instead of Motley Crue. Sparked my interest to look them up and now I listen to a bunch of the songs from the debut album 🔥🔥
ОтветитьI don't think Kevin Cadogan gets enough credit for shaping the sound and depth of Third Eye Blind. His alternate tunings and ambience really created a unique sound. Kevin Cadogan and Mark Tremonti probably my biggest influences for song writing.
ОтветитьThe guitars on the first albums are absolutely epic.
ОтветитьThe self titled is one of my favorite albums of all time. I got it when i was too young to understand a lot of the songs, and loved it for the music. Put it down and came back to it in college and fell in love with it all over again finally understanding the more mature themes. Absolute masterpiece album!!!
True story, I dropped out of college and went back and "Graduate" was my theme song the whole time as I got a 3.8 GPA and graduated! So thank you 3eb!
One of the best debut albums ever
ОтветитьWhen your Prog/Punk band is always practicing,
Is really kinda just prog, and not too much punk.
The punk gets practiced right out of it.
Fantastic interview. Even working with the man, it was interesting to hear tidbits I didn't know.
ОтветитьThat song he did isnt even my kind of music per se, but i was blown away. I got the tingles i get from listening to Montserrat Cabelle doing Casta Diva. Simply amazing. And Rick, you are hands down the best musical interviewer and doing the entire world a service with these videos. God Bless you.
Ответитьlove that Merry Christmas Rick and Stephan He pull that sh t right outa the air
ОтветитьGreat interview. Gunn High School is in my local sphere. Wow! I never knew. Wish Rick would have Eric Valentine on.
ОтветитьThank you Rick, really enjoyed that!
ОтветитьWhat a hunk of crap ...i didnt kno it was basically a stephan Jenkins solo album ...this guy needs meds
ОтветитьGreat interview. kudos Rick.
ОтветитьThe most recent song isn't bad, but something about the way its mixed is off putting to me.
ОтветитьThis was GREAT!!!!
ОтветитьAmazing
ОтветитьThis was so good. Damn, what a performance.
ОтветитьStan Getz? OMG!!!
ОтветитьThis is brilliant ❤
ОтветитьI'm so glad to be here too 🎉 January 2025 I sang the whole album almost two decades ago
ОтветитьNew Subscriber GOD Bless everyone 🙏🤗🌹❤️
Ответить3eb, my first love... Stephan Jenkins, great interview, Motorcycle Drive By, has been a testament to...
ОтветитьI was not a fan of Stefan after Blue came out and what happened happened. That lineup was one of the best bands of all time. 3rd eye Blind was magic, there is a heaviness to it, akin to metal, but it's light pop music. No other band I can think of has pulled that off the same way in such a uniform way, across the whole album. Most bands are too obvious. That said the first 2 albums ruled my life for a while then. I moved on as music never ends. Listened to the first album last night first time in..freaking i dont even know... and was blown away by how audiophile it is. It sounds AWESOME on a nice system. As they say in this video, the recording was 1 in a million.
ОтветитьThat Stan Getz story is kinda like that scene in That Thing You Do, where the drummer gets to jam with his hero in studio :D
Ответитьcool interview but Stephan definitely has some Abe Simpson energy to him
ОтветитьBeen a fan since day one amd I'm here to say dust storm is magic
ОтветитьSaw this video on my feed last year and, even though I didn't know any Third Eye Blind songs, clicked on it anyway. Don't really know why, just felt right. And it was really interesting!
Their first album was the soundtrack to the second half of 2024 for me. I came back and watched this again knowing the album a fair bit better and it was an even better watch this time 😃
A serious Cure vibe to that tune!
Ответить(with a little bit of Smashing Pumpkins in it too though)
Ответитьsir rick please interview other band member
ОтветитьI love their music i have Third Eye Blind music collection at home.
ОтветитьWhen he sang Motorcycle Drive By...damn💜
ОтветитьThe self-titled Third Eye Blind album hit a point in my life that felt it was filling a void. I will forever cherish that album and hearing stories behind it had my attention to the fullest. Thank you for this episode, this interview hit close to home.
Ответитьbrilliant works of art..would have been nice if they discussed the making of Blue,,great album ,,in particular Red Summer Sun ...awesome song !!!
ОтветитьI like their first album a lot, but Blue just kills me. Still.
Great interview! Thank you Rick!
In the 90's I was a cheating slimebag who went to a party at a radio party...with someone from work who had made the same mistake. I 'won a cassette tape of their first album. I got a walkman and listened to the album on a loop for half a year. Never got old. This takes me back to those days. The dark energy I carried with me attached itself to the music I was listening to. This album is a masterpiece. Blue their next album is almost as good. Then the band dynamics became one ego and you didn't even know who the band members are. I lost the passion I had for these guys.
The God Of Wine is so mysterious to me. The lyrics are cryptic and just an amazing song.
Well, sitting in the dark in the backyard listening to this wonderful interview…. All I can say is that this interview was one of the best on you channel… My God, to hear not only the intricacies of his first album but to push him into his entire life’s work from day one… Bravo Rick!! Such a superb interview!!
ОтветитьI saw Third Eye Blind a couple years ago. They sounded awesome. Great interview!
ОтветитьI'm 50 minutes in, and you're still only talking about track 3 of 14.
Part 2, please! 😀
Their self-titled album came out when I was 8. It's still one of the most underrated albums of my life
