Historian and Producer, Kaylie Stokes Shares History of Gasparilla Island's Black Community

Kaylie Stokes is an oral historian who will be sharing excerpts of interviews she had with former members of Boca Grande’s black community plus documented history that complements the narratives she recorded.

Kaylie works full-time as Assistant Director of Student Success Programs at New College of Florida in Sarasota. She also preserves the history and stories of families across the Gulf Coast through her company Story Roots Productions.

We’d like to thank Hazeltine Nurseries and our Members for making this programming possible, and invite anyone interested to join the Society. Memberships allow us to continue providing these types of events and programming, while continuing our daily mission at the Society’s History Center in downtown Boca Grande, Florida.
