Ok, from the beginning of the video let’s deal with that elephant.... wtf with the handle? How do you stack them? Lol

I brought a TerraMaster F5-221 NAS. Its a pile of junk. Then brought a Synology NAS which I should have done in the first place. The only thing missing from the TerraMaster box is a large hammer to smash the TerraMaster to bits with!

Your missing two rubber feet on the Nas which probably made it shorter. Install those and I bet they're the same height.

So isn't better for say a raspberry pie running OMV which manages the external terramaster?

Is there a USB enclosure that has hardware RAID for 5 drives? Or is the Synology NAS really the only reliable solution for RAID?

Hi sir, thank you for your video! I was curious if you had luck connecting an external monitor to the display port? I am currently trying to connect an HP 32f as a 2nd monitor using the Displayport and it doesn't seem to work. Can you point me in the right direction? Do I need a different monitor?

You mention there are quieter Thunderbolt DAS compared to this one, what are the other choices? I'm restricted to Thunderbolt DAS so that I can get HDD SMART data on MacOS.

Thanks for the video! I received one and spent most of yesterday setting it up and transferring data from my Drobo 5D3 via Thunderbolt 3.
First; WHAT A PAIN IN THE ARSE for setup. I'm on an iMAc running Monterey 12.6. I followed the (poorly written) instructions to the tee, but it would not mount as a drive.. Terra Masters dismal instructions; poor installation process; and support by email (getting responses back 8-12 hours later) is Not for the beginner. If not for tenacity (i"m stubborn, bull-head, and don't accept defeat easily); I'd have shipped it back in a flash!
I finally remembered an instruction command set given to me by Paragon Support. In Recovery mode; this command, tells the Mac OS to unapprove and uninstall All Third party kexts from /Volumes/Macintosh HD). After that, I just had to go into my Privacy and Security settings and allow the extensions. I set mine with 4, 14TB EXOS drives, configured for RAID 5, hopefully enable the 5th bay with an SSD for caching/read ahead, if a smaller SSD won't affect the configuration????
By the Way; I guess, the cost of a screwdriver wasn't in Terra Master's budget, because it was missing with mine?!

Great content; thank you for the video!

One question, if you don't mind: could I connect it to a Blackmagic Cloud Pod and essentially use it as a "NAS Light"?

Best

Great video. Are there any DAS products where you would feel comfortable expanding the RAID after intial setup? Looking for a DAS that can grow overtime.

you put a lot of work into your storage reviews, but man i gotta say it just drives me nuts when you miss probably the #1 reason people want to view NAS/DAS reviews - read/write speeds. we really don't care about theoretical limts, for we all know those are never near the real-world results. you've got 99% of the work done here, just don't understand why you constantly omit a simple blackmagic read/write test. it's the reason we're all here, seems like all other channels take the time to show RAID 0/1/5 speeds at the least 🤷‍♂

Quite simply, want to use this as a standalone 5 bay HDD enclosure? Don’t want raid at all!
Is this possible?

I know this makes me weird, but I’m only looking at this because it has a handle. And as a DIT I really wanna be able to have a place where I can just grab it.
