I have a great grandfather, who I know very little about, except for their names on tombstones and a couple of torn photographs I looked at many years ago. A great uncle of mine had his nose blown off by a German spy. (A woman seduced him to follow her into a dangerous area.)

My Uncle, like all of his 13 year old classmates, was in the Hitler Youth. His group was sent to help defend Berlin- 547km away on foot. Six days later, the much older veteran leading the group shifted their March to the West. He told my Uncle and the others that their duty was not to die for Hitler but to rebuild Germany. To do that, they must March towards the setting sun and surrender to the Americans. He would go on, and do his duty by fighting the Soviets. My uncle did surrender to the Americans, was processed, interrogated and at the end of the war told to walk home.

My honorable and very loved grandfather crossed the Rhine in ww2. My other grandfather served in ww1, my father served as a marine in the Korean War. I'm so proud of them and their leadership as men.

And our new great pres and his party seems to admire the nazis and even a southern governor claims to be nazi. What shame they bring to the greatest generation and our country. They plan to build camps for immigrants. Seems they know nothing of the past and the miserable history that brought.
