I don't normally comment, but excellent episode! This interview and Pochettino approach and understanding of the current situation is spot on. He's creating competition and making room for player that just "say" they care rather than "showing" they care. I was a little bit optimistic, with the lack of A rank players in the roster. But now i'm behind Pochettino and I agree with his change and mentality for the better! I see that the international game requires that extra punch vs club games. So hopefully we see that extra punch from the players, like winning 50/50 aerial duels, one-on-one challenges, losing possession and running back to correct your mistake. We just need more care effort overall. Thanks Pochettino! See you at the USA VS TRINDAD TOBAGO GAME in SAN JOSE

The last time he compared a player to Messi, it didn’t turn out so well for that player at their club at the time

As somebody who grew up in Argentina, the rest of the World still thinks that USA sucks and still think that the US will lose every game 4-0.

Considering that Christian Pulisic hasn't played in a Gold Cup since 2019, I wasn't too worried about his absence. But Josh Sargent and Yunas Musah?? Fringe players probably could've used this tournament to reestablish their national team involvement

regarding the "not wanting to play for the national team" feeling they speak of players having , with respect to pulisic specifically, I have a tough time doubting his heart. I want to reframe it and think how bad off must he be so that his decision is to not play.
I think it guts him, and I think it's a little presumptuous to doubt his heart for the national team.

Not my favorite interview. I don't think he said anything we didn't expect. I was hoping he would name who he feels his leaders are, because we all know its Tyler Adams and someone else will have to step up. Meh...

Hey guys!! Did you hear what Pochettino said ? " Soccer is changing " . It is NEVER late to enjoy FOOTBALL AND " DONT BE " GRAMPY" . Is it a fate event that ARGENTINIANS are now COACHING 10 national TEAMS IN LATIN AMERICA !! Is it a matter of an accident that today POCHETTINO is the head coach of USA TEAM ? . I coached soccer too . In America is painful to see how wrong are the expectations . After watching 78' at home , Mexico 86. I was one of the people promoted Soccer for the Blind . ARGENTINIANS know how to enjoy this game with others and play together . LISTEN TO POCHETTINO : IT IS NOT ABOUT WINING !! I have been in USA for 34 years and I experienced how amazing is to play in Argentina. One day American parents will learned to watch , let their kids to be free thinker and to let them PLAY !! They are yellow to their kiddos BUT THEY NEVER PLAY!! Travel to ARGENTINA and observe the culture . You will see Why Argentina is FOOTBALL TODAY . Walter Ducret Philadelphia , USA

Berhalter has destroyed the mentality of this group towards the National Team. It is almost better to get a group of new hungry and potentially talented players and hope for the best rather than the ones who think the National Team is honored to have them versus they are honored to represent the USA

When he couldn’t name 3 leaders that speaks volumes, if John brooks hadn’t fallen off it coulda been him, Diego Luna if he moves to Europe, and Haji Wright are the three potential leaders.

We are so lucky as fans to have Pochettino as a coach. It hurts to see our fan base take him for granted and blame the short comings of our players and their passion on him. We don’t deserve this man and his attention. Thank you Mauricio from the bottom my heart. I will always be thankful for you coming to coach our team even if the rest of our fans want to take their frustration out on you. He’s right, we need players who will fight and die for this flag and country.

Argentina (pre-Emi) hasn't had a steady group of world-class keepers, Tim definitely would have made the squad and likely challenged to start at some point. Landon would have had a waaaay tougher time with the players in his position.

@lopoa126
@lopoa126 - 11.06.2025 04:05

The Gold Cup is important this time around because of the World Cup next year combined with a new coach. Pulisic and some of the other "resting, not injured" players could easily play as subs, or just play after the group stage, instead of not being involved. Recent tournaments and friendlies have been embarrassing. Pulisic should never wear the armband if he doesn't care about the team.
