One big problem in the cold is that they hold cold temperatures. In Russia the Wehrmacht took them out of their boots and wrapped cloth around them.
ОтветитьAh so that's the sound of a marching army! 😮
ОтветитьIt has a potential intimidation fact. Imagine that sound, en mass and echoing.
Ответитьbest way to go skating across a fake marble floor in summer-
ОтветитьWouldn’t they also be very slippery on certain surfaces too.
ОтветитьAnd you can skid especially on wet pavement.
ОтветитьSounds like a horse clacking on a road
ОтветитьThe noise is one thing, the cold gets to your feet quicker with these on too
ОтветитьWhen i walk with my german ankle boots legit everyone can hear me from 500 meters away and stares at my shoes
ОтветитьGood Lord imagine how many floors they ruined!
ОтветитьDo they serve a purpose or is that just how they were manufactured?
ОтветитьImagine trying to sneak up on a machine gun nest, but you have to walk trough concrete and the dude hears you walking.
ОтветитьThat and water can seep in through the holes. That became a potent issue in the trenches of ww1
ОтветитьDon’t forget to put black polish in the soles and keep that leather good or it’ll split!!!
I wore studded ‘George’ boots for nearly 30 years in the Army.
Can’t beat the sound when on Parade.😊👍🏼
Remember guys getting in trouble for having taps put on their boots
ОтветитьAs a reenactor with bigger German nails… yep
ОтветитьWhat boots are those?
ОтветитьI love the noise they make. I have metal heals in my shoes as I love it
ОтветитьThey sound amazing when marching
ОтветитьAlso very dangerous on smooth surfaces. It's like skating on ice ! ☹️
ОтветитьI wore them back in my logging and then lineman days
ОтветитьImagine getting kicked in the face with that thing😂😂😂
ОтветитьFor people that keep losing your hobnails. Treat your soles with linseed oil. It makes the soles harder.
ОтветитьThat was intentional to a point. That sound made people shit all over themselves.
Ответитьwhat the british airborne did when they went on night raids was to take spare socks and put it over the boots to dampen the noise. workt extremely wel on the night raid on Bure
ОтветитьAs a WW2 reenactor in British kit, I added hobnails to my boots and when walking on concrete sidewalks it felt like destruction every foot. The opposite of indian moccasins. It felt a bit like being a terrorist of some kind. Crushing bits of sand below your feet. No wonder they removed boots before going into homes.
ОтветитьPut some sand on that helmet, that thing is basically a mirror
ОтветитьHave seen bitumen torn up by soldiers practicing drill while wearing hobnailed boots.
ОтветитьI remember I bought a pair of ww2 paratrooper boots and they had hobnails. I wore them once and never again bc people would stare down the street bc of how loud it was on the pavement.
ОтветитьSounds cool though
ОтветитьШляпки как у гвоздей которые в доски забивают...😳
Ответитьyeah i get the heels of my boots done and i sound like a tap dancer when i'm walking down the street but they save me wearing my heels down ..
ОтветитьI thought the hob nails were purely for louder marches?
ОтветитьThey are perfect for keeping a cadence with cloud punchers 😅
ОтветитьI had to wear these as a cadet in the 70's. The noise was fine, but bloody hell they are slippery on polished stone. We had to a last post parade in a local church and we were all holding on to each other. My mate nearly pulled the vicar over when he grabbed on to the lectern to steady himself, we were killing ourselves laughing at the ridiculous situation we were in. Lethal!
ОтветитьSo Battlefield 1 got that sound down correctly.
ОтветитьAhh....hob nails and heel and toe irons. The wrecker of wood floors. And a death sentence on a smooth tile floor.
ОтветитьThey're cold too.
ОтветитьWhen you primarily fight in grasslands and forests its not really an issue. Plus from a logistics point of view they are great because they make boot repair less complex.
ОтветитьTHERE'S NO DISCHARGE IN THE WAR!!!!
ОтветитьI like the sound though i get that in combat it can be a problem
ОтветитьI really want to buy some but I'm scared of slipping... i had older styled shoes for a bit and was always eating shit
ОтветитьThey're only Black if they agree with the left...
Add in that OFFICER Tatum used to be a cop, now to the left hes twice as not Blk. Nevermind when hes wearing a red hat, now he might as well be a clansman. To them. To stupid people.
Imagine a whole battalion of soldiers marching with those during a parade
Ответитьwalk into your home with them and every day after you will see a reminder
ОтветитьOH SO THAT IS WHERE THOSE "CLACRK-CLARK" boot sounds came from.😂😂
ОтветитьAnd that’s the reason why some history enthusiasts love early military boots.
ОтветитьSo people can hear you coming long the road
Ответитьi personally find the sound much more menacing (and pleasing)
