"private detective and sex offender"
that manga sounds awesome
Fist of The North Star is criminally underrated. We wont have JoJo without it.
ОтветитьToriyama was the Cobain of Manga! he ended the hair metal Era.
ОтветитьGuys , read Otokojuku or watch the anime , is worth it.
ОтветитьCan you do this for the 70s and 90s as well?
ОтветитьIts was good once
ОтветитьFIST OF THE NORTH STAR was my first anime I’ve ever seen and omg as an artist I was in love. I borrowed his VHS copy a couple times and even recorded the movie on cassette tape and listened to it after I had to give his VHS bad. Great times that made me the artist I am today.
ОтветитьThanks for bumping into Silver Fang. Sons a huge dog fan.
ОтветитьBro I thought this was totally not mark
ОтветитьOh man. I don't know why, but that ending, with the story of the dog, touched my heart
ОтветитьIt’s a damn shame that Fist of the North lost a lot of its popularity
Ответитьgood thing manga/anime isnt getting contaminated by american "entertainment" these days, yet. Besides jojo, looking like it was injected with tumblr, which I dont care about lul
Ответитьtry KARAKURI CIRCUS.. - THANKS me later because the title is FAR MORE then a circus😂 story
ОтветитьVery interesting.
ОтветитьWow db and Jojo still going on. Wow
ОтветитьHave you read the original Dragon ball manga? It definitely wasn't for babies. It was meant to be a comedy, not an action-driven manga. That's where DBZ comes in, that's the transformation from comedy, to action.
ОтветитьStarted watching City hunter last year and it's still amazing 👏
ОтветитьGINGA NAGAREBOSHI GIN ...episode 1 was intense !!!!!!
ОтветитьNgl even though shonen jump overworks ppl to hell I still would like to work for them in the future. It's my dream to be the next Togoshi or Kubo. I just wanna bring back the classic innovative stuff shonen used to be. And have really emotional impactful stories.
ОтветитьSaint Seiya is very famous in Chile until today, people who never watched anime in their lifes know exactly who they are.
Also the´re was a generation born in the 60´s who watched many old anime shows in south america, Like Kimba, Heidi , Robotech, Gekkō Kamen (Centella), all of them dubbed to spanish. Shows that opened the way to a new generation of anime.
room full he says
ОтветитьKimengumi was adapted in anime and also published in France. Big Three at this time was Saint Seiya Dragon Ball and Tsubasa/Hokuto no Ken/Maison Ikkoku (for girl). Also I think Saint Seiya influenced even Dragon ball for Aura, Power level increasing, Super sayan (Shiryu), High speed battle, power that made characters through wall/rock and for all anime they were the origin of power of Frendship I think.
Ответитьyou just reminded me that back in the day I used to download episodes of ranma 1/2, then burn them to dvds, to watch with friends, 3 to 4 episodes per disk! Such a funny show, it was totally worth the effort!
ОтветитьThat's a good Shonen lineup in the 80s berserk dragon ball Jojo black jack fist of the north star Tsubasa blade of immortal kochikame kinnikuman baoh City hunter saint seiya rokudenashi blues and dragon quest
ОтветитьJoJo’s being marketed towards young boys is honestly so twisted it’s hilarious
ОтветитьWhat about 90's Shounen Jump which was more zany cartoon-esque? Especially during late 90's with shounens like One Piece, and non-Jump titles with cartoony visuals, like Trigun, Jing King of Bandits (Early manga chapters feel very cartoon-esque), early Shaman King is very cartoon-esque in it's style, also Hiro Mashima's Rave Master has cartoonyness.
I'm curious as for what inspired such cartoon-esque visuals in late 90's Manga and Anime, because i personally very love that era's aesthethics.
I really disliked the art style after Stardust Crusaders. I think Stardust Crusaders hit the perfect balance and it was all down hill from there.
ОтветитьDB + JoJo = PEAK
ОтветитьGod I love the art style out of Japan from the 80’s, battle tech and all of it. My dad had a lot of this cool stuff including the first Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader Codex and it is all extremely nostalgic for me.
ОтветитьThis kind of gives the idea that he didn't read Hokuto no Ken or Kinnikuman. In both those series, specially on Kinnikuman, the characters get beaten, improve and grow stronger as the series progress. There's no notion of a "stationary level of strength" at all as he mentions. For example, in Hokuto no Ken (while it's nowhere near as Dragon Ball) even there Kenshiro gets beaten, then learns new techniques to beat stronger oponents. And Kinnikuman is pretty much exactly like Dragon Ball, where the titular hero, who's an underdog and gets beaten all the time, constantly grows more powerful, unlocks new skills and even power up states to face stronger villains in every arc. Kinnikuman's "Burning Inner Strength" power up isn't so unlike Goku's Super Sayajin form (An inner latent power that emerges during moments of desperation and anger, increases the hero's power level many times over, makes him glow etc) . Hell, they even had power levels and multipliers! Not to mention Kinnikuman is also an alien, from a fighting race of aliens, thrown on earth as a baby and raised by humans, who trains under master Kamehame (yes, that's his name) to learn his signature technique on an island in Hawaii... Oh, and there's also magic balls that can revive dead people when gathered. Yeah, I could go on.
ОтветитьYour final statement reminded me of the good old days when I was starting to get into anime (it was early 2000s) and back then literally no one talked about seasonal anime, all we had on our minds was Fullmetal Alchemist, Naruto, Bleach and classics like Cowboy Bebop and Evangelion. Instead of chasing the next new thing I was busy discovering classics (Bubblegum Crisis, Alita, Inital D). I still wonder what caused this change and why nowadays everyone's obsessing over season premieres. I tried getting into that for a year or two but each season i ended up with multiple shows I never finished, another bunch I had trouble keeping track of the story and maybe one or two I actually really liked so again, I don't get the point :/
PS. Maybe it would be a cool idea for a video for you to examine how the watching habits of anime fans had changed?
I feel like the title of this video needs to change, because it will be more than 30s years in 5 years now
ОтветитьAW MAN I WANNA READ THE DOG MANGA
Ответить80s to 90s Jump had fair share of Rom-com, Sports, Action and Adventure.
ОтветитьShonen Jump was already great in the early 80's: Ring ni Kakero (the FIRST battle shonen),Captain Tsubasa,Cat's Eye,Dr Slump and Wingman.
ОтветитьGood video but I have to say that Saint Seiya and anime/manga in general was undervalued in the Anglosphere but not Latin America, France, Italy, etc.
ОтветитьYou definitely have a grudge against JoJo's the way you keep showing it then talking about something else, as to intentionally anger us
ОтветитьHere after Toriyama’s death. I went back to viewing this video because of an image of Shonen Jump 1 week before his debut and how much his works changed the entire industry as a result. Between Shonen 30 years and now, it obvious just how revolutionary Toriyama was, starting new trends that resulted in the Shoenen Jump now. He will be miss.
ОтветитьKenshiro learns new stuff through the whole story, it's a big part of the plot that he can learn any move just by seeing it. By the end of the series he can literally pull out any move from the entirety of it!
ОтветитьIt was golden
ОтветитьThat dog manga looks fucking awesome and that plots amazing!
ОтветитьYou should make a Saint Seiya video. After all this is one of the best manga/anime ever.
ОтветитьI never knew fist of the north star inspired so many mangas
Ответитьawesome video 😊
ОтветитьCertainly late to the party on this video and topic but I appreciate this type of exploration. Very interesting to see how the stories reflect the times they are in. Also, I remember seeing the VHS for Fist of the North Star and really wondering how it was made. It’s interesting to see how many other projects it influenced
