What caused the damage to your paint?

Yeah nah, I’ve got two of them that constantly make me question my sanity 😂

That’s interesting because I have the 2H7 tci with the later model fixed plate and mechanical advance. I’ve always wondered if it could go better and wanted to put all late model electrics in it.
Do you still play with your vacuum advance line, I find that makes a big difference.

The paint problem is because you didn't let Delboy paint it it would have painted by the best quality paint in a completely controlled environment.

Damn! And theres me thinking the nicest electronic ignition kits on the market for older bikes like the Dyna kit for Guzzi big twins still reatained the mechanical a/a unit....
Still, the Dyna kit still sits in its box 16 years after buying it because THE POINTS AND CONDENSORS ARE just so reliable after 42k miles..

Congratulations on getting Basket Case back on the road. She sure sounds good. It is nice that some good came out of all of this. Good decision on going with the AGM battery. Lithiums are not suited for machines not designed for them. It is a shame about the paintwork. The bike looks great, otherwise. But like most things, it can be repaired. I do hope you keep the same paint and look.

What size bike? Is it mechanical or electronic advance now?

I’m building a 1980 xs1100 cafe and my carb diaphragms are bad. I’m having a hard time finding the right ones. I also checked jbm industry’s like you did but I can’t seem to find the correct size. Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

When my bike plays up I get really depressed, and when it's running good i'm in a much lighter mood...............so being the owner of a triumph i'm depressed most of the time, glad you have yours sorted.

I've always said my XS had one of the best motors of it's day. But not hard to run right past the rest of the bike! Scared my self several times when I first got the bike, yes it was new then, "feeling" the motor and finding out there was no freaking way I was going to make the corner or stop in nearly enough time. Fortunately never had that ugly ending but definitely cost me some laundry! Lessons learned become tattoos if you're fortunate. To this day it sits patiently in the garage waiting for me to come out to play, unfortunately that is not nearly often enough for either of us. But sure glad she's still there.

That motor is music to my ears! I've owned an XS 650, an XS 750, and I currently own an FJ1200. But I've never driven an XS 1100.

This is not in any way important [unless it's a knock-off decal going on a bike], but did you know that the Yamaha emblem you used in the thumbnail for this video, is for musical instruments?! The Yamaha motors emblem has the tuning forks breaking the circle. Just a little-known fact for ya. Love the vids BTW.
