Car modifications, in this case, is the symbol of freedom, self expression, and choice. By taking away car modification rights, it shows that the government is suppressive and wants to take away the freedom and self expression of the people. The government also uses propaganda to make the people think that car modifications are bad and that taking it away is good. This shows that the government is creating conformity and an illusion of a utopia by taking away freedoms such as car modification rights and using propaganda to justify their actions as correct. Taking away car modification rights also represent Equality > Freedom. Car modifications can make others feel jealous since the modified car looks better than the other unmodified cars, so the government can create a sense of "equality" by taking away car modification rights and making everyone the same. That way, no one is better than the other. However, doing so takes away freedom and self expression. In most dystopian societies, Equality > Freedom. Everyone must be equal and conform to society, or else they will be outcasted. In this case, the outcasted group are the car enthusiasts. So overall, this video is the perfect example of a government-controlled dystopian society where the government wants to create confirmity and put equality over freedom and self expression. Everyone must be the same otherwise they will get persecuted or outcasted.
