The first match with the gold player is the one thing I can attest to, is that in every single game where there's a competitive ranking, if there's a low ranking teammate who was forced to play at much higher ranks with of course much more skilled players, that low ranking player will adapt and gain skill much faster than playing with similar skilled players.

However the next question would be, are they strong enough mentally to go on and learn faster or just quit the game entirely?

I can relate to this when I was gold I was playing like 10 private matches 3v3 and everywone else was SSL, I was just bumping pepole and got like 3 saves total, I also scored 3 Lucky goals, but mostly I was just in the way of my team
