Great video Patrick, thank you. Love all the archival footage of ancient hardware.
ОтветитьGreat video!!
ОтветитьGreat advice! Thank you!
ОтветитьThat’s one hell of a great video!
Would you consider uploading a video where you explain how to organize data?
Still struggling to figure out a way, up to now I have the year folder, than month, than projects folder, with the footage inside...
I’d be curious to know a better way!
Great video Patrick! I believe you skipped one small part. When copying your data from backup to backup, you still need to protect the data. Never just drag and drop. Use the proper tools such as Shotput Pro or SliverStack or Hedge. It does not matter if you're in the field or in the edit suite, copying footage should always maintain the highest protection against corruption.
ОтветитьFirstly, how is this great video and channel so under viewed and under subscribed? This is gold, thanks!
Secondly, I'm a one man shooter and editor. I can't afford editing off of SSDs, so I just use the fastest spinning drives and a toaster box.
Thirdly, When you mentioned RAID? are you talking about RAID 0 or RAID 1?
Nice video. However you need to specify that not all RAID configurations have redundancy.
ОтветитьDo you recommend using the jellyfish for storage?
ОтветитьWhat brand and model is that LTO Drive?
ОтветитьSomething very important with the cloud : how much it will cost and how long it will take (they will certainty throttle you) to download say. 10TB or data? Even if you have an ioSafe, it will not protect your data if it got stolen, so the recommendation continues to be valid
ОтветитьIf I'm working from one hard drive and then move it to a second when finished, to archive it, wouldn't that create broken links? Is there some way to avoid this?
ОтветитьDo you have a video on how you back up your RAID to tape? Also do you move files / upgrade from old LTO to more current LTO? Thanks
ОтветитьHello 👋
Regarding Archiving, I am thinking about getting one of the LTO tape drives.
It is my understanding that the LTO drives (and tapes) have both a “native” and a “compressed” option & way that you can save your data.
So question: When you are saving Video data is it more wise to save these using the “Native” mode?, or “Compressed” mode?
I have heard that compressing videos can supposedly degrade the file structure (i.e. - MP4, MOV, AVI, MTS, etc., type files).
LTO tape drive is best< i,m use and this perfect
ОтветитьCan I use 2 or 3 other external hard drives to back up a multiple Drive Raid ?
