I will happily spend lots of money on TV shows, films and music that I like. But if I have to have more than two streaming subscriptions in order to maybe get most of the content I like for an undisclosed amount of time thanks to opaque rights deals, then I’m going to want to find other more permanent and reliable means of accessing that content WHENEVER I WANT, even if it means buying and ripping the physical media myself. For shows or movies I want to revisit at a moment’s notice, I can’t rely on services that can easily just delete the content without notifying me.
Ответитьyou didn’t explain anything you brought up?
ОтветитьC a p i t a l i s m
ОтветитьIt’s ridiculous that I can buy said record, but can’t stream said record.
ОтветитьCompanies forget that we’re not paying for the movies, but the convenience. If they make it less convenient than piracy, then we will pirate it
ОтветитьWhy do content creators have to explicitly say they don't endorse piracy? Are we in North Korea or something? Free speech and opinions aren't a thing anymore?
Ответитьlol I love how you take the "Unbiased" Approach whilst continuing to lay out all the facts straight. Leaves the video Uncontroversial but also gives all the feelings the audience should be feeling, Like anger and frustration towards these piece of shit companies who could get away with murder if they wanted to
Ответитьyeah i've noticed this problem over the years and i now download everything that might disappear from the internet that i like. i still miss some and lose them
ОтветитьBest is to buy your favourite music on vinyl, CD etc or getting a good digital download with no dumb limitations etc.
ОтветитьThis century SUCKS.
ОтветитьI knew that keep downloading my music in mp3 format was not a bad idea after all.
ОтветитьAs a published music producer I can tell you we retain control of WHERE and WHEN our music is distributed. Apple is not at fault for this one. The artist or producers decided to pull it in favor of whatever it is they are doing now. However platforms have varying business models on HOW your music is distributed and you have no control of that.
ОтветитьYou won't have your music, and you'll be happy.
ОтветитьThis why I buy cds. If it’s only available on a streaming service I record it.
ОтветитьReasons I buy a lot of my favourite music and have mp3/WAVs on a hard drive:
ОтветитьThe age of streaming really is over, I've gone back to the old ways.
ОтветитьHow about a cool shirt in the merch shop with the phrase "If buying isn't owning, piracy isn't stealing" ... 🙂 Honestly, it's true, right? They do it with subtitles too ... Some movies I watched at a friends place (the next country over) there were no English subs for the movie (or any other languages), only in their language. Crazy shit.
ОтветитьJust record everything on a linux machine and use a VPN. Then clone then files to .exe simple solution
ОтветитьI bought some music on iTunes about 10 years that I can't even re-download. The artist removed them from iTunes and Apple Music so now when I try to download I just get blank 1 second long tracks. I love digital media!!!
ОтветитьBruh, I can’t stand when Apple Music does that. I’ve had this happen before with songs I put in my library from CDs that I paid for IN MY REGION OR COUNTRY!
ОтветитьBoy if only there were programs that can hook into the API of every single major streaming service, and spoof the ones that don't have one, all to give you the thing you want right now.
If only there was some kind of internet protocol that could handle the large scale decentralized distribution of user-submitted files.
Gee, if only something like that existed.
... Yeah, if you make it impossible for me to pay, i won't pay ever again. Simple as.
What a shitty world we live in. Piracy all the way.
ОтветитьI feel this. There is this indie German song my friend found on Spotify. I liked it enough that I wanted to buy the album but there is no way to buy it in my region unless I go through a bunch of weird geoblocking region workaround garbage.
ОтветитьI remember seeing the bluey show tbe first time it was beautiful I love when they incorporate classical music in kids shows instead
ОтветитьI remember discovering Locoader and never going back.
ОтветитьWell, I’d better download a flac copy 😂
ОтветитьIf buying isn't owning, piracy isn't theft
ОтветитьYou have kids?? I legit thought you were 16. Or maybe you are?
Ответитьvpn moment
ОтветитьThe thing I dislike about streaming media is exactly what you experience. There is a well know Mexican actor and comedian named Cantinflas. There is nowhere online where I can stream his movies. This could be region locked as well but I have no clue. The only way I can watch them is by buying DVDs on eBay and that’s exactly what I did.
ОтветитьPlaystation/Sony renewed their deal with Discovery, but the points you make aren't immediately invalid because of that.
ОтветитьWhy do I have the feeling that Jellyfin will disappear?
ОтветитьFinamp to use your jellyfin music library, and includes offline
ОтветитьApple used to have a perfectly functional music service that every user liked. You paid for the music and you had it in your library. Once the files were on your computer and iPod, they were yours to keep. And then they made it infinitely worse.
ОтветитьAnd that's why pirate is on the rise again.
ОтветитьWhy don't you add Music to jellyfin? You can buy CDs for lossless audio or Blu-ray discs for Hi-Res.
ОтветитьI recently switched from iPhone to Android and the only thing I don't like is not having access to the thousands of purchased songs on iTunes. The other problem is I don't which software from the app store that will enable me to reliably transfer music from iTunes to my memory card or on the phone. There are many such versions of these apps but there's no way to know which one actually works. Why hasn't Android put their own iTunes compatible software on their phones that will enable user to play the music they bought?
ОтветитьAny app or subscription fee means the music or video will eventually evaporate. I still have 💿 versions which of course do degrade with kids handling them or playing in the car. I find op shops (thrift stores) great in finding old dvds or Blu-ray’s for now
ОтветитьYou know what you can't do today, Jeff? Plot x, y on the screen! In Atari Basic and Assembler you could do that!
ОтветитьUgh. Yes. I hate streaming music "rental" services. Bring back for-sale MP3 as the norm
ОтветитьYeah. I just bought 3 wd gold 8TB drives, RAID 5 and downloading everything. Sick of this
ОтветитьProfessional mother 😂
ОтветитьThis is precisely why I’m now in the process of stepping away from Spotify, for the sake of Soulseek, Musicbrainz and Foobar2000. Also, actual lossless. All for free. Sick and tired of awful service.
ОтветитьWonder why i never heard of it lol...someone buy up their competitor? And make it impossible to acess?
ОтветитьMy friends and I had to pirate the first Resident Evil movie because it's not available on streaming and no one wants to hunt down a DVD because we wanted to watch it that day.
ОтветитьLove your channel, and recently coming back to this video, but I have a couple of questions that I can't find with a quick google search. 1) Do you use a dedicated MP3 player for your kids or yourself? If so which ones have you liked the most? 2) What do you use to manage your media library for offline playback? I am looking for a good alternative, and recently getting nostalgia for my good old iPod Classic, and back them iTunes. I want to take my music back!!!
