That first girl is a good actress
ОтветитьTIL that my ADHD makes my iron supplements more effective.
ОтветитьWhat about poeple who cant. Handle it at all even though they need it?
ОтветитьWish i knew this when i was younger.
ОтветитьWhat about b12 anemia
ОтветитьThe pill make me sick, it messing with my guts and my skin breaks sooo bad😢
ОтветитьI donated blood, forgot to take iron suppliments for a week after, then got a cut that bled a lot and I almost passed out. Didn’t forget to take the pills after that, heheh
ОтветитьThe alternate day dosing is absolutely right and is in Up To Date from at least last year (2023). And yes, hepcidin is the reason. Good post!
ОтветитьReally helpful for me as I am intolerant to iron pills but taking low dose every other day might work.
ОтветитьI used Molasses, cause I was so chronically anemic I couldn't donate blood.
ОтветитьI'm taking that exact iron supplement right now and my doctors have me taking it twice a day with vitamin c pills to help it absorb, I was so ironed deficient on the doctors got a hold of me that I ended up getting I think about eight iron infusions. I was doing one week for over a month plus the ones I got in the hospital. Also if you're suffering from hallucinations or paranoid delusions, please have your iron checked before you go see a psychologist and they try to medicate you for it. For years I had hallucinations and paranoia, Mood swings and all kinds of other stuff, once I got my iron back up ALL of it went away.
Ответить❤ THANK YOU, Doctor!!! 🤗 I've been suffering from extremely severe IDA for years, and even with high Rx doses, symptoms and levels still barely improve. Will try this immediately!
THANK YOU soooo much for being there for us, especially when a lot of our regular doctors haven't been of barely any use for those of us with chronic conditions. 🥰
Huh! I'm Glad I stumbled upon this video now. I just started taking iron supplements yesterday! Thanks doc 🙂👍
ОтветитьInstructions Unclear: I ate 25 servings of metal spoons
ОтветитьIs this true? Have been taking ferrous fumerate EVERY day for 3 years! Stick feel tired as sheet! Imma try this alternate days. 👍🏼
ОтветитьYou peach! Thank you so much!
ОтветитьJust eat nails bro
ОтветитьIt’s especially impossible to eat your way out of an iron deficiency, because iron deficiency can also cause decreased appetite. Imagine trying to eat six kilos of chickpeas when your throat doesn’t want to swallow and your stomach doesn’t want to accept food.
ОтветитьWow thank you for that information. I've been trying to get my iron on track for years. My doctor was even threatening a transfusion. I will try this. Thank you 🙏🏾 blessings
ОтветитьCan also recommend a hysterectomy for iron deficiency 😂
Ответитьyou do need to change your diet permanently tho. or you will keep getting the same issue...
ОтветитьI didnt know i had that i always sleep in school thats why im sleepy
Ответить😮❤🎉
ОтветитьWhat about for beta thalassemia?
ОтветитьI wouldn't mind eating 5kg of meat per day tho...
Ответить5kg of beef per day?
Challenge accepted
I was on iron tablets when I was pregnant and they made me puke like a frat boy. I hadn’t thrown up with that pregnancy at all until I had to take those dumb iron tabs.
ОтветитьSo just eating well isn't enough? (i eat spinach regularly and ate chickpeas this last week but I don't eat red meat)
ОтветитьWow this is great information thank you !
Ответитьthis information could not be more perfect for me right now
ОтветитьHow do people become iron deficient in the first place? Where did all that previous iron go?
ОтветитьThank you! I study nutrition, and I wasn't aware of this.
ОтветитьIt's really important to note that non-meat-based iron in your diet is really poorly absorbed. As in, you might need 10x more iron in your diet if you are vegan (or may need a supplement). Do talk to your doctor though, if you can, even through like a phonecall or a chart message, because too much iron supplementation can be deadly.
Edit: also, not all anemia is iron deficiency. B12 or folate can be a cause of anemia, too, but there's alot of different types of anemia that have nothing to do with how much iron is going into your body
I have a point in my day where I will fall asleep. Doesn't matter what I need to be doing. I NEED to be sleeping, so says my body. I had to get weekly infusing for 4 weeks the first time through. I even mentioned just getting a hysterectomy but the hematologist was a guy in Texas who said I was too young. Bro I was well on my way to 40. I wouldn't be going through this again if that a**hat thought an almost 40 year old who says they don't want kids is going to suddenly change her mind. I got my first (noticeable) gray hair that year and was stoked.
ОтветитьWish I'd known that a couple of years ago. I had liver surgery and lost a dangerous amount of blood; I had transfusions but my hemoglobin was still very low when I left the hospital. It took 15 months of daily iron pills (I reacted poorly to the infusion) to get my hemoglobin back to within normal limits. Taking the iron pill every other day probably would reduce the unpleasant side effects too.
ОтветитьThanks for this video. What if a woman has been supplemented for almost 6 months, with no improvement?
ОтветитьFINALLY! A supplement that complements my forgetfulness
ОтветитьMy son was iron deficient at 1 year old. He had been breastfed exclusively for the first 6 months and his iron levels were fine. I then started to feed him iron fortified infant cereal (still breastfed). After the test, the Doc gave him iron drops. His iron level was checked 2 months later and his levels were lower! It seems that he could not absorb synthetic iron and synthetic iron will block natural iron absorption. I took him off of all iron fortified foods and the iron drops. 2 months later - his iron levels were up and normal 2 months after that.
Every human body can have individual quirks so not every thing works the same for everyone.
This explains so much ... I am unnaturally cold all the time and can never seem to get warm (even when the temp inside the house reads 80 degrees Fahrenheit!). I used to think I could fix the problem by having an occasional steak, but thanks to your video, I now know why this approach simply is not working.
Having said all that, is there any danger to getting too much iron and/or having it linger within your body for longer than it should? Are there dangers associated with supplemental forms vs. dietary forms? Do studies show animal-based forms of iron are better than plant-based ... or vice versa?
I'm vitamin D deficient and I was told to take it only 2 to 3 times a week in large doses so I could get optimal absorption. I've been feeling better and sleeping better ever since. By the way people that are vitamin D deficient usually have insomnia.
ОтветитьI didn't know that you should take them every other day. This could have saved me from some side effects.
Ответить6kg of chickpeas, challenge accepted! 🤣🤣 Wish my friends and family luck! 🤣😂🤣😂
ОтветитьDoes it work like that for vitamin D too?
ОтветитьCan't take iron supplements if you have beta thalassemia
ОтветитьI'm borderline anemic and just....I don't wanna take pills for several weeekkkkssss 🥲
ОтветитьThis was a useful video to see with a ferritin of 9. Thank you for the info ❤
ОтветитьOr...take heme iron ( with b12 and folate ), avoid tummy problems and feel better.
Males need 8mg of iron a day. A menstruating female needs 18mg a day. Males eat paleo and carnivore, etc (getting tons of heme iron)....yet, females are still not encouraged to consume heme iron. Please explain.
It belatedly occurred to me that the reason I felt like crap for the first two days of my period was because I was anemic. Nearly passing out at work finally got it through my head. I supplement a few days every month now, and it's made a world of difference.
ОтветитьSo i only need 5kg of steak every other day then
Ответитьdang i don't remember being taught any of this in health class. would've been super helpful to know especially as a woman. definitely going to try that daily alternate dosing. thanks doc!
