Fortnite's Cosmetic Blacklist and "FOMO"

FOMO is just "pseudo-addiction" for children. It's just Epic unashamedly manipulating kids who don't know any better. And the fact they've made most of their fortune off of it proves it. If I was a parent I would definitely be concerned if a gaming company was making billions of dollars off of children by enforcing some psychological dependence on cosmetics. It's the same reason little to no skins have "true" customization. They know if you could basically build your perfect skin you would almost never purchase from the Item Shop again. That's why skins like "Maya" are few and far between, locked behind Battlepasses, and limited time only.

I like how all the mouth breathers have been all "thE enD of exClusives finally yaYYy!!" Totally oblivious to reality.

Basically all the children complained. So now instead of promised, known exclusivity we have unknown exclusivity. Who knows what will be rare? No one now. Before we at least knew most of the time. So now the fomo is arguably worse. Speculation buying. Way to go whiners! You ruined the entire system!

From my understanding the only emote that does seem blacklisted is the fresh emote. Since it was the item that had a legimitate lawsuit.

It’s crazy that I bought Snoop’s Cadillac because of FOMO due to them saying that it has a limited time bonus decal.

I think it's all a selling point because I don't know any other games that do this

The only "FOMO" that works on me are specific crew pack skins that I really like, like Princess Lexa other than that I could care less about item shop items. The only skins I've ever bought are Winter Wonder Skye and Lexa Hexbringer.

I strongly believe there is no blacklist at all. It is literally all just rarity. If something was in the item shop before, it can definitely come back. I think it's interesting you bring up rust bucket. I think when OG hits season 3, it might come back to the shop. Everything can come back with enough time, and a "blacklist" is just a term being thrown around so people can claim their thing that is rare will never come back to the shop, despite the fact that it literally can.

I do wish Epic would just bring back things with no hesitation. I still feel as with the skins, they won’t release because they’re worrried on what the community would “think in a negative way” instead of re releasing the cosmetic for those who’s been waiting for them the past few years. Been waiting on Rue & sadly hasn’t came back yet ): still waiting on her & still have hopes for her too come back❤️ I know some have been waiting on Dante as well, etc. them releasing Rare icon emotes is great but I also hope they do so with other Cosmetics with no hesitation as well.
It also comes to a point where we get the point about something that hasn’t been out in years lol, hopefully Epic re releases more Rare stuff again apart from Icon Series Emotes, love seeing rare stuff that “isn’t set to return” return.😅

When epic need a big pay day they drop something like lightsaber pickaxe. Fomo makes money.. Eventually their will be an online shop that has everything to order anytime.

I think at this point the ACTUAL blacklisted cosmetics are the four emotes affected by the Toxic Emotes setting (Laugh It Up, Make It Plantain, Take The L, and Whipcrack). No point in selling or LEGO-ing stuff that's disabled by default.

I think they should get rid of the item shop completely. Nowadays there is no point in keeping the system alive. They got rid of all the things that made the item shop fun ( rarity, complete redesign). Nowadays, whenever I open the shop it's full of visual clutter, and some collab skins. In my opinion, the tab should be replaced with a "featured" tab, which would function, and look like the old (I am talking like season 5 ch.1 type old) item shop, and would contain some random skins, but on a significant discount (30%), and would rotate every X amount of time, let's say a week. All the other skins would be made purchasable all year round. I think that such a solution is great, as everyone who wants a particular skin would be able to buy it, and less popular skins would also gain some interest whenever they would appear in the earlier mentioned featured tab.

I’m glad Fortnite did this. For a while I believed the TikTok’s that would claim things wouldn’t come back and then I remembered they know nothing about what’s in Fortnite files. And for Fortnite to gradually put the emotes people claimed weren’t coming back. I hope the content creators are looked at as jokes for lying just for monetization.

Rushin around was probably banned couse of the Russian ukraine war but i think now with trump getting in as president and saying hes gonna end the war and russia and ukraine saying they support trump.
I think we in a situations where it ok to come back but than maybe it was never blacklisted and was just made rare so they could sell more

What you are talking about is chapter one and all the ogs went through this. The days when a new skinned dropped it was literally the entire lobby. We bought every skin. Everybody wanted the next rare or sweat skin. I remember the whole squad was hype because we fought a fellow nog ops in the old days. Gotta thank epic for saving my wallet. Dont care to buy anything anymore knowing i can buy it anytime. Will just enjoy my renegade edit style when it drops
