When I had my indoor-outdoor cat for 15 years, we BOTH liked the house at 75 degrees F. One of the fun things we enjoyed was taking naps together. I would lay on my back and my cat would lay on top of me. It's nice to drift off to sleep with a purring, furry friend.

I had a cat that liked to go under the heated blanket which was far too hot with a heavy blanket on top of the heated one. One morning her eyes were completely clouded. Vet said she was overheated and is temporarily blind so try to never let her get overheated again because she's susceptible now. Happened once more on an extremely hot day while in her cat carrier. The blindness lasted about 3 days each time

My cats sleep next to the heat vents. They also sleep in front of the refrigerator as it puts out heat when the motor is running.

My cats love snuggling in their cozy beds which are next to the gas fireplace, and will sometimes reach their paws out towards it.

My cat is a 19. Yr old Female Tonkinese who loves to lie on the kitchen window sill and dangle her legs and head right over it.we feel sure she is going be cooked as it’s so hot, but she loves warmth is always cold. It wasn’t so bad when she was younger and a very active hunter, but now she says she has retired from chasing silly rabbits, stoats, pheasants! So will sometimes get into bed with me and sleep under the duvet, OR lately has literally been demanding a hot water bottle with a blue thick knitted cover my friend knitted for her. We only fill it just with hand hot water, and with the thick wool cover I said it was fine. We also have a proper veterinarian bought microwave bottle that fits into a well covered toy and use that in her basket when we are going to the vet,,so she is warm
Travelling, last time we went tge vet said she was far too hot with this bottle, but we reminded him we bought it as recommended by his colleague! But just recently we have a problem as Willow “thinks “ she is in charge and stands at the top of tge stairs loudly calling me to go to bed too! I ignore that but the worst thing is if she gets up in the, or to the kitchen for food. We don’t have centrally heating night to go to the utility room where her litter tray is so all downstairs is tiled, but she comes back yowling her Bess off and sitting on the landing virtually screaming! It makes my husband so mad, waking him from a deep sleep. You would think if that cold she would come straight back and scramble into bed, where her blue bottle is, but no.,we just get this most awful yowling, and I usually get up and go
and get her, and put her into bed with me and she eventually purrs herself to sleep, then I can put her back in her bed again,. Honestly i don’t understand why or what to do with her when like this. I appreciate she is a. Old cat, but she is well otherwise so we don’t know what to do. She is due to see the vet for check up and inoculation next week, but we only got
Married. In June 2023 and already my husband is going to sleep in the spare room, so it’s not a very happy here! Anyone been through this and found a way to stop it happening I’d be grateful to hear! Willow is a dear little cat, and I dread the time coming when I lose her, but this is really too much when we should be a happy little family 😥🙄😿😿.🙏🌹🫶

I keep my place very warm in the winter, because a small apartment can apparently be heated very efficiently by a gaming computer. It's regularly around 77F/25C indoors, and the cat seems to like it just fine.

I have a bunch of cats, including several ferals. Even the FERALS are loving it living inside, including Miss Midnight the Spoilt Feral Queen of the Cat Tree, who I never thought would ever enjoy being inside. But, almost 5 years now she has lived inside exclusively and has never even ASKED to go outside at all!

My kitty years ago found herself sheltering from an ice storm under my car. I tried to call her in, to no avail. Then I called, "Night-Night.". I saw the instant recognition in her eyes of the signal for our bedtime snuggle routine. With a look that said "damn the torpedoes," she dashed indoors, and under the covers. I wrapped her up and rubbed her down till she was comfy, warm, and purring again.

My cat is so weird. I knew it! His thing right now is to be outside when it's bitter cold. He'll tromp through the snow for an hour or so, come back in and thaw out, then go back. He has access to a door, and keeping him inside is unbearable for all of us, but at night he sleeps on us all.

I have a cat who has a very bad thing. Repaired broken leg. He's probably colder than most cats because of the permanent injury he's had two surgeries and he's still walking pretty good. Yes, but consider if you have a cat like this that they're gonna get cold more than normal. My cat always lays on a heating pad that's on low or he lays in front of the fire.I don't let him outside.

I have a cat who is 19 years old now. We have had him since he was 2.5 months old. I had a fixed thermostat on 25°C in our apartment, so he is not cold. Being an old cat, he sleeps for longer hours and eats less than before. But he is in good shape and health. Consider him as a happy cat.

It's pronounced "LETH-argy", not Le-THAR-gy. 🙄 You might have mentioned that another cause for shivering is spiking a fever. Fevers in any warm-blooded mammal (including us) mixes up our internal thermostat. High fevers are serious. I keep our home's thermostat at 66-67 degrees F. If it's good enough for us humans, it's good enough for our 3 cats. They have plenty of soft warm places in our home to enjoy.

My barn cat (that finally moved in) is a Maine Coon, jet black and so beautiful. I suspect she lived under my truck in her first year..or my neighbors barn😩..It’s getting close to below zero and she likes to sit on my porch still. I anxiously await her return and never let her out when I’m leaving home or going to bed.

I try to keep my cat warm, however i run overhot all the time. So i tend to keep things cooler or cold. My cat smokey, 10 year old maine coon, is currently with me most of the time. I worry about her being co,d but she dislikes too much cuddles or blankets on her. Previous cats we had did like the blankets.
I do have many blankets and pillows set up for me, so she has that. She has me to stay with.
I think i will get her a heating pad or bed. Just to be sure.
Sometimes i know she is cold because she is on me or next to me.

I have several cats and generally keep my house around 68. This worked out great for everyone for years until I rehabilitated a feral cat a few years ago. He has much thinner skin and fur than the others so he gets cold in the winter. I had to buy him a sweater and that solved the problem. It threw me for a loop the first time he started shivering.

After watching this video, I reckon’ my cat is an outlier. Although he has a very warm, cozy home in which to stay, he’ll often hit the outdoors with gusto when temperatures are in the upper 20’s/lower 30’s. I figure if I open the door and he wants to go outside and stay outside (the choice is always his), he has a brain, and the benefit of thousands of years of evolution. If he gets too cold he’ll either come back to the house to be let in or go to my neighbor’s barn and sleep in the hay. And yes, if I let him out in cold temperatures I do check often so he can come back in when he likes. And I did set him up a cozy box with plenty of blankets in the carport.

my cats are all this and there is nothing i can do about it. they are forced to live outside in a makeshift dog kennel and not by my choice but by my parents. and where i live frigid cold weather in the winter and blazing hot weather in the summer. and wild life that will see them as a snack. and they do like to try to escape the cage when i go in and out from feeding them the expired can tune i am only allowed to give them. my parents stopped caring for the cats. they never once seen a vet my parents say cats dont need to see one. i took over the role of feeding them and cleaning out their box cause my parents lost interest in them. and my dad is the reason y we started getting cats but for the wrong reasons. and they use to be inside but since we moved into a house that doesnt allow cats they have been forced to live outside. and with me being raised poorly i am not allowed to leave home to go get a job to make money and to give them a proper life. just like my cats i too am mistreated. it makes me sad that they are treated this way and my parents dogs get the spoiled treatment. and they are worst behaved things on the planet. i am tired of being the one to deal with their antics. they are y i love cats more. but my cats are miserable.

They have 7 enclosed (cave) beds, 6 open cat beds, a foldout princess foam chair (says princess on the backrest), a velvet cat sofa, 3 cat condos, 1 stair step scratcher and a ton of fluffy baby blankets and handmade quilts that I handed down to them (mainly for my tuxedo princess) that I had made for my Maine Coon. They also have our bed they can sleep in.

Shivering doesn't mean you or cat are cold, it means DANGEROUSLY cold. Besides shutting off circulation to parts outside the core (ALSO dangerous for the body), there isn't another emergency mechanism after that one on the way to hypothermia and death. And shivering may quickly use up available energy resources.
