Lyles will probably handle rounds better than Knighton. He should be favorite. Potentially great race between the two, Kerley and Bednarek.

Guy ran a 19.4 in April.....

it comes down to his coaching & training... if Knighton can run a sub 19.7 then that'll speak volumes on his coach... we already know he's super fast... was 19.49 his peak? In April?!?! Scary to think it wasn't but also what kind of coach would be smart enough to train an 18 yr old to run a 19.49 but at the same time make him peak in April of a championships year? Lots of questions.

Knighton's 19.49 is a fabricated fixed time. Having a none sanction meet without a proper timing system is not credible, especially when they purposely ran on the opposite side of the track away from any videoing of the clock is suspicious. So with that said he's not beating Lyles. 🤔

Hot take. Knighton won’t make the team.

Boling will probably never make a 100, 200 or 4x100 relay team, I’d say the 400 relay (mens or mixed if they’re doing that like they did in Tokyo) is his best chance

Boling actually has a shot at the 200 and a very high chance of making the Long Jump

Should be a heck of a race. I can’t guess as to who will win? Strongest contingent of mens 200m runners in the world-the good ol US of A! 😎👍🏻🇺🇸

Knighton looked to be in a class by himself in that April race-scarry fast. I give him a 60% chance of winning. He is an unbelievable talent, but young and a little thin on experience in spite of going to Tokyo.

Agree with Gordon here. Knighton is incredible, but I'm not convinced he can summon a 19-mid time at will quite yet. It's there, but I don't think it's there every day. Lyles WILL run fast. So, he has to be the slight favorite, even while acknowledging that Knighton is certainly capable of winning on his day. I'm just hoping they both run well and stay healthy. Such an awesome 1-2 punch.

Erriyon hasn't run any subsequent deuces for us to gauge his fitness more effectively, so the rounds, hopefully, will provide a clearer picture. Lyles has the experience and the momentum as 19.61 ain't nothing to sneeze at, but I will give Erriyon a slight edge. His 19.49 can't be ignored. He's still 0.11 up on Noah. Finally, Michael Johnson's 19.32 is on notice

Lyles should be the favorite because he is in good form and has the experience. He will run well in the trials. However, this could be the beginning of The Rise of the Knighton. If he runs as consistent as he ran in the Olympic trials he will take it and probably continue to rule the 200 for at least the next decade. You all are under estimating his potential and I believe we are just beginning to see it being unleashed. He already has experience on the big stage and should come relaxed to the trials. I have a feeling we will see some good numbers starting with his first qualifying race.

Gordon is right, Lyles is definitely the favorite over Knighton. Lyles has the track record of performing in championship meets. What is Knighton’s 2nd fastest time? 2nd fastest time is a better predictor of championship performance.

I'm going with Knighton. The teen is running fearlessly. Lyles should have been concentrating on the 100M to get around the turn quicker. Knighton will make him realize his error. Either way, it's going to be a fast race and I'm here for it.

I cant believe Boling is doing the long jump when he hasnt had a decent jump in months. Should just rest for the 200m.
Edit: nevermind just finished the video and saw he is one of 2 americans with the WC standard so he will probably go to worlds unless 2 new guys hit the standard and Boling doesnt place high at USAs.

Gordon made the only point that needs to be made. Take away one race from Knights n and this isn't a conversation. Take away one race of Noah's doesn't matter which he's still the favorite
