How to Pair the Bose QC 45 Headphones With Bluetooth

You must be really lazy if you come here instead of searching on the net or read the manual. No offense. ^^

Any monkey in any zoo can pair these headphones using the BoseMusic app, but why does Bose require an app to pair their headphones? And, why are there no videos showing how to pair the QC45s if BoseMusic is not required? And, why are there no videos showing how to pair with a bluetooth device that is not a smartphone, a PC, or a Mac? Can they not be paired with other bluetooth devices (like a bluetooth transmitter with a feed from an independent source like an M3 player, for example)?

Mine were a gift but if I were reading online or watching YT's about the QC45s I would not consider them for purchase. Why can't I find answers to these questions? Is Bose colluding with search engines and YT to hide something? No BT product costing as much as these do should have such obtuse, obfuscating and hidden pairing protocols.

Am I alone in finding this to be the case? Anyone else find answers that I don't seem capable of finding?
