There is a reverse racial discrimination going on based on skin color, especially in college admissions. But if only 27% of MIT’s student pop. is white, does that not prove that AA makes acceptance harder for white students because that 27% doesn’t match the nation’s demographics for white people? Furthermore, shouldn’t the social benefits provided to white people (in the context of education) not make the acceptance rate of white students even higher than their demographic % would predict (in the absence of affirmative action)?

IMO ur socioeconomic background matters WAY more than ur race for college acceptance bc richer people go to better schools (yes, even if they went to a public one), can afford better test prep, and generally have less economic or social stress during high school (ie don’t have to work a part time job)
