"Detective arriving on the scene" is you waking up, you wait some time as the tiredness goes away, you take a walk outside and get emotional by the smallest piece of joy you can find in your day, you smile and take a breath, you say "it's worth it".

That first track's opening, good stuff.
The trumpet sounds solitary and lonely. It calls out mournfully in search of a response from another. Like a ship lost at sea, sounding its horn in a foggy and moonless night, hoping to hear the horn of another nearby vessel - another of its kind.
This ship however, has been adrift for years. Cast off and forgotten to the currents of the indifferent and expansive ocean. Its paint has slowly cracked and flaked off - replaced over time by a patina of orange rust and salt and grit. With no plotted course, and no power to move itself, the stranded ship is nowadays more akin to an island of metal: rough, coarse, and unwelcoming. It stands now as a fortress - and a prison - for its thinning crew. A place whose only visitors are the occasional flock of seagulls, who preen their feathers at the aimless bow before setting off once more. Where were they heading? Towards a landmass beyond the horizon? Or further out to sea to meet their end? The ship envied the gulls for that luxury they held. All it could do was sound its horn to tell the world that it still exists. It will continue to sound its mournful cry until the day someone acknowledges its distress, or the day it falls silent forevermore.

There’s something deeply interesting about how the song that plays when you meet the phasmid is called “La Revacholiere.” Maybe the reveal of the insulindian phasmid is what revachol is about. An impossible miracle happening against all odds when you least expect it and completely changing the way you see the world.

Me: What do you think, Kim, do you like the music?

RHETORIC: Why do you ask that? You know the answer!

EMPHATY: He seems to like the music.

AUTHORITY : You should ask him again, but this time with more force in your voice.

Kim Kitsuragi: Yes, Officer.

INLAND EMPIRE: A warm feeling floods your body as Kim tells you he likes the music

This soundtrack of really embodies the spirit and atmosphere of Disco Elysium, as something soothing yet mysterious like the aura that infects Martinaise and its surroundings, albeit depressing too. Really one of the best experiences I've had paying a videogame.

I do lament the fact we may have no DE 2, but I feel it’s probably best that way…

The thing that rang clear for me is that somehow a beauty and hope no matter how tired can exist amongst the melancholy and drudgery that constantly threatens to crush it..

It’s dirty, it’s beautiful, it’s absurd and all you can do is recognise it and appreciate those fleeting moments as we did in Revachol….a butterfly perched on your finger before flying away.

So as much as I want a DE 2 it’s kinda fitting to it’s story/world that it become an artefact of a moment, like a static thread of conversation trapped timeless amongst the pale, or the bombed out, timeless tombstones of the factories/buildings or the jacket of a tired old carabineri..

Just another thing fading, a piece of lore, a thing with a story that leaves you with questions and a sense of loss and yet it Glitters and howls into the night…

I mean they even wrote a game studio/development team whose vision/art falls apart due to the harsh uncaring reality of business IN THE GAME!

Man real life is disco..

I would often go there, To the tiny church there, The smallest church in Saint-Saëns, Though it once was larger.
How the rill may rest there, Down through the mist there, Toward the Seven Sisters, Toward those white cliffs there.
I would ofter stay there, In there tiny yard there, I have been so glad here Looking forward to the past here.

But now you are alone. None of this matters at all.

Few games touched me as much as Disco Elysium did. It's so unique and beautiful in its own way. I can only hope the original creators will be able to get their rights back so they can make more games.
Also I love you Kim Kitsuragi

Today I just finished playing my first gameplay, after hours and hours, everyday, just playing everytime i had the occasion to. I was really into the game all along, saving my progress at any chance so that if i made a mistack i would come back and fix it. my first gameplay now over i can just tell you how much this game as affected me. I am nowhere near a gamer, i play some minecrat here and here but never really had a game that made me WANT to play more and know more. everytime i played i felt a surge of satisfaction and the dialogues, interactions and choices just made me focus extremly hard on the story and the content of the game. I'm just happy i have finally played this game after waiting for two weeks after discovering its existence (ty all the kim's fanarts on pinterest, i have now an undeniable love for the two main characters and their personnalities). i really think this game is a masterpiece which made me want to only play more every new day. i will, o fcourse play again, just for the sake of trying new things and seeing new dialogus and potential cutscenes. this game amazes me, theuniverse it takes place, the characters, everything and the art PLEASE it makes me feel so tingly/pos i am just so....idk i cant even put words into it except amazed and all its synonyms. i love everything about that game like, everything, soundtracks, art, world.

PS : as a french person i found it really funny at first to find a lot of french words like city names and little grafities, and to observe that most of the characters have somewhat of a french accent.

(sorry for bad english btwi am very tired and have spent my whole day on finishing the game)

Those horns. I could go through what Harry went through (total retrograde amnesia, not the other stuff) and still those horns would spark a nostalgic memory. A line from the game few talk about sticks with me, especially when thinking of Disco Elysium as a whole. When you shake Titus' hand its described as "Holding a lump of unpolished granite" or something to that effect. That is Disco Elysium. For all the issues both in and out of game (My portrait has been stuck as "icebreaker" for the last three playthroughs) its a truly unique experience that will never be done again. I'm currently working myself towards the platinum, just two trophies left. Part of me wants to achieve that goal, part of me doesn't want it to end.

Harry, Kim, Jean, Cuno, fucking electrochemistry. Theres not a single part of this game I dislike. I'm not sure its my favourite game, that spot has been filled by an rpg from my childhood I'm too nostalgic for to have it replaced, but it is VERY high up there.

I always think about replaying Disco Elysium, but with a completely different character. Yet I never do. The story I had was perfect for me and the game just hit me hard when I played it. It was so cool, dark, dirty and yet hopeful. I don't think I'll ever forget it.
