The connection between dropping export sales and cancelling their internal Wi-Fi chip team is curious. Was there something 'special' about the Wi-Fi chips that TP Link designed, and is there a technical link between these chips and export versions of their equipment ? It would be interesting to know if anyone had done any detailed tear-down or assessment of the TP Link Wi-Fi chips to see if they had any inbuilt features that are a potential security threat.

TP link Have absolute shit of hardware....but like nvidia best programers. I remember when i was istaling like 3 km of cables routers and cctv and it didnt work...couple emails to tp link and i got custom firmware for me. it works !...NOW i be scared to buy from TPlink cuz im 90% sure they fired those helpfull guys. THEY MADE my firmware in like 36h.

I fail to understand the logic behind these actions. HTF will blacklisting Tp-link help ? Absolutely anything electronic manufactured in China is a security risk. Even American designed and branded products are manufactured in China. Remember the added on backdoors on high performance server motherboards of Supermicro that were supplied in large numbers to the defence department that were communicating with CCP spies ? TP-Link was a cheap alternative to D-Link, but their reputation collapsed when they were exposed for back doors and other security flaws. They cannot be trusted.

Man I really like their routers, almost all of it can be flashed with openwrt or a version of it. Their tapo cams can also be hacked to disable phoning home and only work with onfi. I can firsthand confirm their security is shit, but it is exactly that shit security makes it open to load your own solution to make it secure.
